Finally started to play with jb's files and skidrow exe.. (yeah.. older exe.. oh well..)

The game is awesome. The music is incredible, the atmosphere fantastic.

But like WhiteBarbarian i begin to wonder.. WTF...
Soo... at level 10 i got myself a nice 130 DPS rifle.. and i enchanted it.. a bit and :

Now i'm level 13 and can one shot everything.. 3-4 shots for bosses.. and that's on hard. The only remote challange is by having the random high level portal scrolls. Is there something wrong.. or.. that's how it's suppose to be.. Shocked

If you have problems then it's best to check the official forums.

Hmmm, I hope when Diablo III is released it's balanced better than Torchlight!

Epsilon: Game is great btw, I love it, so far it's a definite goty. It's remarkable how much has changed since the beta, stardock have been working their asses off, and it shows.

Just remember that there are bad effects when enchanting too. Well, at least ONE bad effect. I spent about eight thousand on enchanting a wand. "Oops, you've accidentally erased ALL the enchantments." My 140 damage vampire wand became a ZERO damage vampire wand.

And that is why not having quicksaves is awesome. There can be consequences for screwing up or getting greedy. Smile

You enchanted a "Slow attack speed weapon", now image what a "Fastest attack speed" weapons could do Very Happy For me such weapons were very rare, so far only two rifles, one staff and three 1-handed melee weapons. Two such melee weapons are still on my char and I keep enchanting them further and further. At my previous post I mentioned that Splash Attack were doing 1400 DMG min, now they do 4000 DMG on average Smile

But now, as I have reached mine floor 25 I am starting to believe that is how it's suppose to be. Game turns into Space Siege / Alien Shooter, there are legions of monsters, most are using special attacks and in all this bedlam you are literally blinded by particles effects Shocked Laughing

Still game is very fun, and I tend to agree that it's the most polished $20 game I have ever played too.

EDIT:

Ouch Shocked So far the only consequences of bad enchanting for me was thousands of lost money. It would be a real tragedy to lose ~900 DPS axe

Ah, that's good to hear (and disappointing at the same time Razz). I was beginning to think enchanting was hopelessly overpowered.

I guess now I'll think twice before enchanting stuff.

Game will get much harder later on, I already died frequently Razz Later in the game there are some spheres with extreme damage and hard to kill due to massive spheres coming to you and huge huge huge mobs Smile

Spheres aren't that hard, but when reaching the lv30 and above, you'll meet some badass necros that'll make you journey a bit harder. And drops are getting less & less frequent at that stage.

Meh, you can manipulate enchanting/gambling, and also prevent dying... The game only saves when you exit/enter portals, so alt-tab, process manager and end torchlight.exe.

Thats cheating -.-

Btw:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torchlight

Quote:
Runic plans to release an MMORPG set in the Torchlight game world 18 months to two years after the release of the single player game. Max Schaefer, Runic Games CEO and former Mythos executive producer, explained the reasoning behind releasing both a single player game and an MMO. The single player game is intended to introduce the Torchlight game world to the public ahead of the MMO. Further, it would allow the team to get a released game under their belts sooner than if they had immediately started on the MMO. Also, while the Torchlight MMO will be a separate game, it will share the same action RPG gameplay and some of the art assets developed for the single player game. The MMO will feature some different game mechanics and a wider variety of environments, including a shared "over-world."[23][26] Runic has entered into a partnership with Chinese online game developer and operator Perfect World Co., Ltd. to publish the MMO worldwide. Because the MMO is planned to be free-to-play, it can be seen as a "free MMO upgrade" to the single-player Torchlight game.

Anyway i always love having a respect options. I remember how i constantly had to backup my diablo 2 saves so i can test various skills having 30+ untaken points.. It's so much nicer to know that you can reset if you do something wrong

Gambling can really pay off at higher levels. Razz

(Bit overkill perhaps but whatever, also all quests and unique/set items appear to be randomly generated although probably from a list of suffixes and prefixes with various attributes, I've had two of the same item with a set with really different attributes, funny thing is that it'll still count as two individual items so with many of them you might be able to "cheat" the counter a bit should you acquire duplicates.)

(Actually they're way to slow to use effectively against hordes of higher-level enemiesl ater on in the dungeons. Razz )

Christ, I'm REALLY unlucky in games where "luck" plays a part. I just wasted so much gold on trying to enchant an item.

First result; "You are unlucky!!!!!" "Item loses all enchantments"
Second result; "You are unlucky!!!!!" "Nothing happens"
Third result; "You are unlucky!!!!!" "Item loses all enchantments"
Fourth result; "You are lucky!!!!!" "Item gains small enchantment - 7% attack speed"
Fifth result; "You are unlucky!!!!!" "Item loses all enchantments"

Add another bit of unluckiness to my gaming day; I accidentally clicked the icon for sending pet to sell inventory ...... and he was carrying a couple of weapons I was saving until I was high enough level *and* six Lost Dungeon maps.
