You know if its the new build that jimmyu talked about?
I'm still waiting for http://torchlight.perfectworld.com to release it.

I'm working on getting the updated files uploaded but it's going to take a while as the entire 600 MB pak.zip archive was replaced.

What updated files? Skidrow release is version 1.1, are you saying there's even a higher build?

If saves aren't compatible I'll keep playing Skidrow release, as I spent some hours with the game and got some nice rare loot. Didn't notice a single bug.

Anyone knows if they said something about loot/character progression? Travis first game (Fate) was great fun for a while, but it finally left me with a bad taste since your character build and stats eventually became utterly useless due to some of the silly powerful loot you could find...

It scales to your character (Somewhat, lower level dungeons won't be super powerful or anything like that.), hacking the level (100 is max.) I found a unique one-handed sword dealing close to a thousand damage plus numerous other powerful sets and uniques. (There's gold sets and rare sets by the way.) but on the other hand once enemies catch up to your level they'll kick your ass if you don't have proper equipment.
(Phase monster portals going from level 2 enemies to level 100 enemeis, wasn't prepared for that, same with treasure map "portals")
EDIT: part 1 of 2, pretty well compressed so all in all the updated data is only a 300 MB download.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FHOYLE8P
(part 1, core and system files, direct rip, might need a loader to start or you can re-use Skidrows EXE file, appid for a loader is 41500 I believe.)
EDIT: Extracted Steam AppID numbers. (Or what to call it.)
41500 - Torchlight
45509 - Torchlight ?
39559 - Painkiller Res.
39560 - Painkiller Res. ?
24939 - Dragon Age
27300 - Saw
27220 - Divinity 2
18119 - Shattered Horizon
8190 - Just Cause 2
34039 - Napolen Total War
10199 - Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
8980 - Borderlands
8989 - Borderlands ?
550 - Left 4 Dead 2
590 - Left 4 Dead 2 Demo
EDIT: Part 2, pak.zip with the game data files.

Thanks for that JBeckman, but I was thinking more of if the way you build your character actually matters this time around? In fate you could pretty much build it however since what loot you found was so much more important than the character itself. So, do the actual skills and attributes of the character matter more in Torchlight? Or is it again, totally loot-centric?

i'm really loving this game although I really haven't played it for long (about 10-15mins) lol.. i'm level 11 or so playing a rogue (the bitch, cunt, slag, whore, sandwich maker whatever you want to call her)
i think this is a game to actually purchase, it's also making me want to play through diablo again.

Is it just me, or is this game prohibitively dark? I know it takes place in a mine and all, but half the time I can't tell what the hell I'm clicking on! They need to add a gamma slider as well as the option to remap keys.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

It actually does work, sorry for misinformation!
I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.
