|
 |
I have decided to try and flash my 360 liteon driver by myself. I have a cople of questions.
first of all my 360 is flashed before and i got Iextreme 1.51 right now, but i dont have my "key" can i get it back somehow?
i also wonder if i need ck3 kit when my 360 is now flashed or is it enought with a regular S-ata cable?
If i brick my drive can i restore it somehow?
I am reading the JF guide right now and its saying that i need a VIA chipset, what is it and where can i get it?
appreciate ur answers
PS. anybody knows where i can get the tools for opening the 360 without damage it?

To further add to Bushwacka's instructions; you'll need a T8 and T10 (Torx 8 and Torx 10) screwdriver pair.

wasn't it a t6 too (for the damn small black screws from the x-clamps)? it's been a while, don't know for sure. just buy the whole torx set, they come in handy from time to time for many other things too and cost next to nothing

Ah, I wouldn't know - I never removed the X-Clamp brackets. It could well be a T6 as well - either way; you're definitely right about that last part ... get the set, lol. Torx screwdrivers are invaluable.

it's like lockpicking instead of inserting the key. just be careful and you won't damage anything

Ive never tried flashing a liteon before. I heard its pretty difficult. Flashing a Hitachi (my previous drive) with JF was a freakin nightmare so I can only imagine how much more annoying a liteon would be.

I agree JF effing sucks. I dont understand why it gets so much praise. I remember flashing Samsungs with iPrep back in the day, it was simple and fast. And flashing Hitachis were even easier, just run a cmd file and sit back & enjoy
Although flashing BenQs with JF is pretty chill I gotta admit

Back when I had my 360, I flashed my Benny with iPrep and DOSFlash. Never had any issues. When 1.6 came out, I just hooked my 360's drive to my PC - and ran iPrep again. Effortless.

Seriously? *laughs* The newest drives just need what then? Just hooking up to the comp and flashing away??

Indeed, there is a small chance the key might get corrupted but far as im concerned there is zero chance if you read the instructions carefully
also some more info from Afterdawn
Afterdawm wrote: | If you are using the 360 to power the drive, eject the drive, remove the power plug from the drive, push it halfway in, and then plug the power cable back up. Once prompted to eject the tray fully, press the eject button to close it, then press it again to eject it fully.
