I have a wii with a D2Pro 9 (I think) and a second wii that has the HBC installed due to the Twilight Princess Hack. The soft modded one won't let me run backups due to it being a later model wii. Back up Loader won't run any games at all, I get some sort of overlaid error message saying No DVD/DVD Identity Failed (transposed on top of each other. The wii has 3.3U as the current version. I haven't played either of these wiis in a while, but just recently I bought the Wii Sports Resort Twin Motion Plus pack, and it wants to update the wii version number.

My question is, am I safe to run this on either of my wiis without it bricking them? My guess is if I run it on the softmodded wii, it will update and remove the HBC. What about the D2Pro modded one?

if the d2pro is the chipped one it should be ok, but better off checking on some of the modding forums just to be sure no issues with the sports resort update going thru on that wii.

Isn't it still possible to install the Homebrewchannel again with Bannerbomb,even if it is removed by the update? Or did they fix it in the latest FW?

Well, I updated the softmodded wii - and the HBC was still there. Going to follow this guide to see if I can get bootmii installed: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/

I'm so confused by all this.

A while back, I managed to install HBC on my Wii (wiikey chip), and it worked. I then updated the FW and lost the homebrew channel.

If I use bananabomb, will that get me back my HBC?

How do I then go on to boot games from USB stick? Wii Sports Resort won't play via DVD - i've heard only by USB...!

Yea, if you updated to 4.2 then use bannerbomb v2 (google) to get your homebrew channel back.
