So much for their Publisher PR release date mumbo jumbo.

Love the idle bickering.
When the true question really is, how activation is going to work, not to mention servers?
Since your all pirating the game anyhow.

The activation most likely uses the CD-Key which is on the CD itself. Much has been said that the game doesn't appear to include a CD-Key. However, it is more then likely 2KGames is using the new(ish) securom method where unique cd-key's are burned onto the CD/DVD itself during printing. The game obviously will have some method of activation; This is evident from the 2KGames borderlands activation page.
As for all the bitching relating to the release date - The release date has been known to be the 26th for quite a while now. Don't blame either the developer or publisher for the shitty-ness that are retailers breaking release dates. The bottom line is that you would have had to wait until the 26th either way.

The console version. Much better graphics, controls, menus and the overall experience on PC just isn't worth the wait.
Oh, and since you're even asking, that's contributing to the console version as well.

PC version has better graphics and performance due to some PC reviews.
Of course you should have a decent PC.

Not only will i blame 2K for breaking the release date, as it turns out that retailers were given the green light by 2K to sell it themselves, but they also obviously didn't plan this well enough, had they done that the game wouldn't have been sold early to the same extent.
And i will of course also blame the developer for making authorative statements on which they have no authority. Not to mention that they themselves could've made both the Console & PC version require work. (Because as 2K themselves said, they didn't do it just to shelve in on the Console version, so that obviously would be a non-issue)

What is that about unique keys stored on the media itself ? You mean the dvds are unique ?
And will this key be used for online or just for activation ?
