Steam just refreshes the page when I press install demo ;(

I had the same problem but restarting STEAM seems to have done the trick. Either that or they've fixed the link whilst I was pulling my hair out.

It's £23 online from stores like shopto.net - from my time with the demo it's well worth it. They've injected a lot of fresh features and good changes to the interface. Although the new tactics system is a bit of a cheat (as it's really the old slider system tarted up) it adds a nice and realistic layer of abstraction over the top, and lends itself to the game of football extremely well. I know some people are upset by that, but it's the right way to go about it in my opinion.

..and at £20? Can't say fairer than that for a game I'll play practically non-stop. 30th October can't come soon enough IMO.

Maybe shops will recieve their game packages today or on next Monday so probably the game should be out in the next 5 days.

It will be a clone probably, as the retail disc is required to be in all the time rather than just at boot up. I guess it must check every now and again and knowing the issues this game has with improperly cracked versions the clone is the best way to go. I mean who wants their game to go wrong after a season or the transfer bugs to appear just coz they have a copy that hasnt been cracked properly. Then you got a day one patch to think about which will need to be recracked, so is there much point? That and it not being that big in the scene, and to be fair not that big in the gaming world outside of people who like football, probably wont see a release till closer to Friday or maybe later.

The FM series is a huge seller and only gets bigger each year. I remember back to FM2006 and how it sold over 100,000 copies in the first seven days. This is a very popular game, there are millions upon millions of football fans.

Time the scene gets cracking with this game at time of release instead of a month or two later.

It is a niche product in that sense, but your ignoring the millions upon millions of football fans worldwide that hehehemann mentioned above Very Happy there are lot of football supporters who ordinarily wouldn't play such games, or any games for that matter, but they take to this like flies on shit. Growing up in the UK with it called Championship Manager I noticed it wasn't really viewed as a videogame, and I've heard it mentioned on other websites so it's unlikely to have been an isolated experience.

Theres like 2 pages on the release on here 5 days before its released in shops. As opposed to the 30-50 pages you get for highly anticipated big games. So doesnt seem that much interest in the world of gaming as a whole

Maybe it's bacause that most of the FM players are so dedicated, that they want the real stuff, instead of measing around with cracks, images etc. Like me, I ordered the game back in august, cause i KNOW that i will get quality.

Which is perfect example that game doesn't need to look like Crysis to be one of the best football games ever. Wink

Laughing

The old 'Excel' thing was long gone after Champ Man 03/04 (before the split which was to form FM and CM respectively), you obviously ain't even loaded any later versions up and 'played' them properly.

Yes it requires no 3D/OpenGL/PhysX etc etc, good gameplay and depth is what this game is all about, and also one of the most 'addicting' around Smile

Its been a while since I was up early checking if something had leaked. I have the game pre-ordered, but once again SI games have been silly with release dates.

Today is the first day of Half term, so a lot of kids, and more importantly, us grown ups who work in education have the week off work. I should be playing FM, instead I have to wait till Friday Sad

So a leak will make my week off much more enjoyable.

As much as I'm a fan of Football Manager I never usually play a full game until the second patch is released, as more often than not there are bugs in the initial release which either ruin the game or make it unplayable.

This time situation may be different. I think first patch is already coming and according the beta/demo testers game is unbelievably in good condition without any bugs. Of course it will never be perfect but at least closer to the perfection.

After all we will see...
