2 activation at one time with possibility to revoke it - securom PA on main game and another version os securom on addon - i intalled the game on home and laptop - then formated latop without revoking and had to contact Securom support to free my used installation

yeah - DRM hurts legit customers ;/

I completely lost access to Mass Effect and Riddick, due to not revoking the activations prior to Windows reinstall. My own fault, but meh, an email to EA (for ME) and SecuROM (for Riddick) sorted it out pretty quick.

Still annoying though, this sort of stuff shouldn't happen and it only hinders legitimate gamers and *not* pirates, who just crack it anyway. Kinda makes you wonder why we even rent, umm "buy" Rolling Eyes, games at all.

because the dev's get mainstreamed and shouldn't be punished the the actions of a publisher?

I hate 2K games, I absolutely fucking hate every single one of those cock suckers inluding elizebeth. They sent bioshock to hell.

but I liked the dev's (except ken...what a fuckass)

I like gearbox (but I still hate 2K)

I try to put aside my butt hurt for the developers I like.

The devs aren't punished, I wish you people would finally start to understand that! They're paid, like any other working Joe, as a wage. By not buying the game, you're hurting the publisher - not the developer.

By not buying the game, you're making a point that you won't stand for stuff like this. I, sadly, did buy both those games - and yes, they're amazing, but we shouldn't be held prisoner by bullshit "activation" schemes.

I honestly, don't care about activatiing my game. I really should, but I don't, it doesn't stop me from playing my game (for now anyways)

And even more honestly, even if I do buy a game, I 100% of the time end up using a crack anyways so I don't have to do disk juggling.

But this whole point contradicts my argument against steam and letting them get away with what they do now only to let them do what they want in the future.

It didn't really stop me either. I lost my activations and had to wait less than 15hrs for a fix from EA, who gave me another activation (I'd have preferred them to reset my existing ones, but I reckon the obvious piracy aspect is what stops that) - it's just the point of it, that's all.

in case of "1" game you may right, but a game that sells bad, does hurt the devs in the long run. Cause they will get less mones next game or (worst case) won't be supported anymore , period.

Then that's a price we'll have to pay for taking back control, IMO. Because if the only alternative is a bunch of hoops we have to jump through, and eventually a brick wall if we jump too often, then count me out :-\

Does the addon have the same CP as the vanilla game? So, is it 'uncrackable' too? Any major improvements the addon adds to the original game?
Patch 2.40 was the latest patch for the original game right?

The protection is definitely crackable... it's just that no one cares enough to crack and release it publicly.

That's why I put it in quotes. I bought the game, I was just wondering how much the addon improved the original game.

All the needed patches are on expansion dvd, don't waste time downloading them.

Quote:
Note
This is an addon, it is not stand-alone. The original Sacred 2 is required
If you're having problems, we recommend a clean install, or if you're using
Windows 7 try running the game in XP SP3 compatibility mode

1. Unrar
2. Burn or mount the image
3. Install a suitable patch (included in /Patches on the DVD
4. Install the expansion.
5. Copy over the cracked content to the installsystem dir
6. Play the game

Invisible dragon mage was explained a few posts ago, basically DFA.dll is part of the protection, if renamed the game will work but several of the new expansion .zip archives are encrypted and rely on that file to get de-crypted which results in a broken dragon mage and a few other things as far as I know, main game is still playable however as is the expansion areas but the releases is no better than just taking the game and renaming the dfa.dll file as that would yield the same results.

Yeah I guessed it already, they didn't crack anything. What a bunch of wankers. Beckman, what exactly makes this CP so special?

It's nothing special as such but instead of just SecuROM activation it also uses the above encryption system.

well im not sure this info is entirely accurate JB....

all the ice and blood expansion works for all other characters, the game runs great, even on the official forums, the missing dragon mage is supposed to be still due to windows 7 issues and securom, there are securom fixes to try but i dont want to do that incase it updates more shit on the pc and messes up anything like DT and YASU i use for other games...

so in many threads, missing dragon mage is a OS/securom conflict issue.. id like someone to try it all out with windows xp really...

note: securom work around/fixes have fixed problems for people with legit serials for both installs and the missing mage problem.

so the crack files are prob fine, its just securom issues generally not crack related.

and across the forums, they state "we are still waiting for a fix for win7 and missing mage!!"

Here is just one reply to someone upgrading to win7 and wanting the expansion.. simple return of dont do it ur mage will dissapear..

The missing dragon mage on Windows 7 is due to SecuROM not loading properly due to the game being semi-incompatible (Without the workaround provided by SecuROM.) so initially you had to rename the DFA.dll file to play which gave a invisible dragon mage character, broken character customization and some other things.
(I have no ability to check what as the files are encrypted.)
