Because for the most part; they really don't. At least, that's always what I've seen. Local multiplayer, outside of fighting games, tends to work better on different machines anyway.

meh, gaming laptops aren't that common for this to be a bottom priority. especially considering they use the same engine for all platforms, so the split screen code should already be in there

The code was still there in L4D, albeit disabled and needing a hack to reenable, so perhaps it might be the same this way?

yes, it works better on different machines, but then you gotta choose between playing something with a friend and drinking beer with him.

and yeah, i enabled ss in l4d, after about 5 hours of hair pulling. it was worth it, since i played it in lan only once, on account of my friend having switched pcs with his girl and not being able to play it on hers, hehe

It didn't even need a hack, you just put two console commands and set up an easy gamepad controller cfg file. Very Happy

it wasn't that easy for non-360 controllers. or at least with my logitech it wasn't, since there were no cfgs for it in the steam thread about the hack and making one involved trying random combinations of numbers 'til you got each button mapped correctly Crying or Very sad

its much nicer having 4 computers in the house on a LAN than split screen.

I am not particularly fond of the split screen in Borderlands.
When you go to select skills or read you gear descriptions, you really have to scroll the screen around quite a bit to read all the stuff in split screen. Plus, it is hard to see the enemies some times in regards to where they are and what not.

Not saying it inst fun in split screen because it is. I dont see what it would have hurt had they included it for the PC.

The splitscreen isn't that bad -- takes a bit to get used to but the game enraps you so u hardly even notice after a while -- might be bad if you dont have a HDTV and just using low-def smaller one. I enjoy it on a 42" LCD -- i highly recommend the game.

The fun of the game far exceeds the split screen gripes of mine. Besides, i hate to play any game in split screen. It doesn't take much to turn me off of it.

Steam pre-loading is now possible, kinda.
(The usual, "server is busy", haha.)

EDIT: It finally started. Razz

EDIT: UE3, can't see much more than that due to the usual Steam pre-load file encryption.

I just had a horrible thought...
This is UE3, right?

........ does that mean... That the PC version (with an nvidia gpu) will be unable to support anti-aliasing (even forced through the drivers), such as have been the problem with EVERY other UE3 game i've ever seen? Razz

Honestly, that would just semi-ruin the game for me. Gameplay IS the most important thing, but with aliasing you get 0 immersion, when seeing all those jaggies flicker around every edge.

rename the exe to bioshock or whatever and choose that profile in the panel, as it was with EVERY other UE3 game i've ever seen?

Zero immersion? The fuck? With higher resolutions anti aliasing becomes more and more useless. I don't use AA at all and I've only got 1680x1050. If jaggies are enough to semi-ruin the game for you then I feel sorry for you.

Bullshit, higher resolution means bigger display which means pixels are larger and aliasing doesn't go away.

No. Just no.You can have smaller pixels Shocked If you've got the spare power run AA by all means but really I don't see a need for it.

both 22" monitors from same manufacturer, one with max resolution 1680x1050, other one with 1920x1080.

Consider yourself corrected, sir.

But I still see jaggies with 1920 and even higher resolutions, AA is mandatory for me.

This can also depend on the game you're playing. Some titles have more aliasing than others without AA. I can also feel that I need at the very least a 2x or 4x AA setting for most games, they're usually enough for me. But I agree with your last comment.

Then you need contacts.
I used to have bad vision too after too much gaming, i didnt use AA either. I didnt see the graphical issues some people were talking about either in some games.
Honestly, im not trying to be funny, its an actual helpful suggestion.
Try glasses or contacts. Textures look so much sharper! Shocked Shocked And aliasing looks so much worse.

Also, almost every graphics card since 2001 can handle 4x AA with next to no framerate drop what so ever.
They are built around it, thats what a big deal AA is. Get with the times.

AA/Res only matters if one is on a monitor other than a crt, and to be honest most are these days..

My misses is still using a sony HDM460 or something like that and if you crank up the res for it, and its 19" then you can not worry about using AA in games etc...

Now its a different situation on my samsung 226 cause native res is what it run correctly at and doesnt alway like other resoultions forced on it.. Otherwise id prob forgo AA in most games as well.

No one knows. But if the street date has been broken, then there's a good chance it will be released early. BUT, there's no way to know for sure. Just do yourself a favor, tell yourself that it won't come out until release date and you'll be pleasantly surprised if it comes out earlier. :> Always more fun!
