I loved the fact that Bioware focused more on gameplay and story than graphics.

You mean a game using the d&d license.

Personally I think they're more than adequate. Of course not up to the same level as Mass Effect, but definitely the equal to NWN2 (I believe, at least) -- all I care about now is that Bioware *did* fix my earlier complaints; stuttering and choppy gameplay. Earlier videos of DA were less than impressive, really choppy, but the newest ones look great!

Mass Effect had fucking horrible textures on NPCs(probably some other things as well) and the shadows were just bad.
How anyone can say this game looks "awful" is beyond me and I hope it's just trolling..

People that said it looked at movies not screens, the walking animations and spell effects if I remember.

DA's graphics aren't stunning but they get the job done, i believe. Design is also quite cool, thanks to that the overall impression is good, imo. Better then Drakensang, mentioned here, which looked fine on surface but was bland, kinda uninspired and lacked detail.

Some of the earlier videos showcased a bit of outdoor content, though yeah... all the videos since then have been dungeon or other "indoor" areas.

I forgot the "most NPCs" and it was mainly the clothing/armor. The main npcs were fine.
And yes at the edit I didn't notice.

Why does everyone all of a sudden accuse the 'whiners' of thinking the GFX is awful? I just mentioned it's subpar imo. And I said the graphics engine, so including animations and other technical aspects. It simmply does not look like a big budget game to me. Look at how the characters move for example, or the area textures.

Whole style is average and uninspired if you ask me. It's not the problem with the engine, its just how its used.

Imo it's just fine for its purpose, some of the scenery is great, even.
I just hope there'd be more hair, beard and tattoo styles (I'd imagine tattoos at least could be easily added if the game's file structure etc. allows it)... The charactor editor feels even more limited than in ME.

Well yeah ME's editor wasn't all bad, the only thing that REALLY bothered me was the lack of hairstyles (but given the military background of the PC it was reasonable).
But the options of editing the PC's facial structure felt much more limited in the DA character editor, so some more variance in beards and such would've been great.

Agreed, felt a bit constrained.
Seems like they put alot of effort into the modding, so i guess/hope it will be changed/added stuff not long after release.

Some details on "Dragon Age Journeys" from EA 2D, actually the article is a bit messed up and most of it ended up here.
http://worthplaying.com/news/
(Was trying to find a better site but it'll suffice, here's the missing text - Dragon Age Journeys, developed by EA 2D, is a three-chapter, single-player, browser based tactical RPG in 2D. Bioware revealed that by completing certain accomplishments in Journeys (as long as you are logged into your EA acct), you can unlock 3 items for use when you purchase a copy of DAO for either of the three platforms. - )

For the love of God, must everything result in an unlockable item?
