Pretty much, yeah. My Lilith has no problems using a combat rifle, shotgun or sniper.

Hmm.. I didn't see one when I was there. There was a keypad attached to the cage though, but I couldn't use it.

ah, you're too early. the quest to free the claptrap should come soon after (with the keypad working)
that's one of the things i hate about this game...stuff simply not working cause you didn't get the quest yet

Some guns have blades on them (similar a bayonet) which can be used as a melee weapon and improve melee damage.

Wow. So I just logged into my character, and I'm missing a Purple Class Mod (that gave me +2 to three of my skills), my purple Health Regenerating Shield (that actually WORKED!), and some other shit off my character. Knew something was up when I logged in and was missing a shield on my HUD.
Seems the reports of bugs is true.

Good call mate, but I'm not sure, I'm a D2 player from the start and I knew this was supposed to pretty much be a first person D2 experience; which it is, which I LOVE... but saying that, it's what I expected, but it doesn't blow my expectations away.

Playing a bit more (alot actually) I'm going to retract my previous complaint. There is variety in here, but the pacing is so slow that you won't see anything new until about level 20+. Actually the game REALLY takes off once you reach New Haven. Spiderants are just remodeled Skags as far as the AI is concerned though, except instead of the weakness being in the mouth it's in the ass. Guardian Wraiths are something else though, fuck me those guys are hard. All in all, there isn't any more variety than say the original Diablo had in monsters. It's just not apparent at first.
Up until the transition to Lucky's End and New Haven, the land gets really monotonous. Oh gee, another arid wasteland/desert. Of course, the wasteland motif is going to stick around, but they do a good just dressing it up with the junkyard area I'm in now, and a few other areas that had me going 'woah'. New Haven is one; it's like Megaton and Rapture had hot sex and spewed all over Pandora....yeah.
Still, I can't give this a 10/10, but it's fucking close. Ok, if I had to grade it, it'd probably be a 9, but then Skooter can modify that by +/- 1 Depending on your sense of humour. Really, fun game, very hard to put down with the 'aww, the next quest is close...I better go finish it...oh another quest this looks fast lemme do this too...oh shit I forgot to sleep and now I have to go to work'.
My Siren is fucking shit up...god damn that class is easymode.

I was sad to hear that there weren't that many enemies to shoot at. I just read this in the IGN review and that doesn't seem to be true!!!!! This makes me very happy!
IGN Review:
Aside from humans, you fight spiky dog-like skags that spit, jump, slash, and generally make your life hell. Winged Pitch Black-like creatures soar across the terrain before tearing down to eye level with malicious intentions. Worms burrow through underground passages and armored insects launch projectiles and spin wheel-like with deadly momentum across the terrain. Factor in some of the more advanced human soldiers who use deployable turrets, shields, and higher quality armor, as well as the more bizarre creatures I won't mention for fear or spoiling things, and there's a nice mix of enemy types and behavior. They also frequently attack in large numbers, which makes the action supremely satisfying if you're powerful enough and able to wipe them all out in one headlong charge, firing and flipping between weapon types and activating action skills in wonderfully violent concert.

Why does the map suck so much in this game. With so many transition areas, you'd think they could label them on the map. Same with quest waypoints. If I have to collect multiple things, put that number of waypoints on the map so I can just plan an efficient route to hit em all. I've noticed too, that if you hit an item 'out of order' from the way they tell you, it bugs the whole thing. Now I can't find the remaining revolver parts cause it's showing me where to go to find one that I already found. Fucking dickcheese.
