So I've been looking for a C# dev for a role i have local to me. Not one fucking developer, one measley developer on the market where I am currently. I spent all day looking, scoured all the sources I have and nothing. Zero. Nowt.
What a waste of a day.

c# is really getting big... It's a pity that I have to do so much stuff with java.. ok in the end it wouldn't be that hard to work with c# but the more you work with one language the more mannerisms you discover...

They're extremely similar, only thing you have to learn again is names of common APIs.
<3 Java
<3 C#
in that order.
But seriously why do you guys need locals? =/

Yeah, and C# is expanding aggressively, with each major revision bringing new language features. Granted, they are geared toward different fields, but still - having to learn that after coding with Java (or even C++) might appear frantic for some. Some also hate the rapid expansion of the language. I just love that it's expanding and advancing, as opposed to Java that is stuck with backwards compatibilities up their asses in order to not have old developers have to study something new (as evident by the silly opposition to autoboxing and foreach, or however they are calling it in Java).
Personally, I don't think I have ever hidden my hate for the Java platform (and somewhat the language too). C# is much more powerful (as is the .NET Framework). Oops, here we go, another source for flame war!

Hmmm no I am fed up with the "speed" of java but I love the quality of it's source code. As you know, I don't have that much experience with c# and I think that I will miss alot of c# stuff if I stay longer at IBM... Well who knows, maybe some day I'll get the chance to go to another, smaller company
(And considering that I love to do graphical stuff, JAVA is a real pain in the ass!)

You could always develop for your own to be up-to-date on the technology, but I agree, it's much harder when there is no specific aim.

I have a problem that I never finish what I start... even the project at work at ~95% but I just don't seem to be able to do the last 5% :/
That because I always realize that I did some bad decisions architecture wise and then restart the whole thing.. you know, it was almost finished 1 month ago but I did a complete change to the front end which forced me to use some other techniques as well.
In the end it's a lot better now, easier extensible and nicer code with less chances to run into exceptions. But I'm at a point again where I would like to change some fundamental things...
But it's good that I have to do this for work. Else I think I wouldn't have finished this one too In fact I'm pretty proud about the software. It looks so easy but it works pretty intelligent inside so yeah, an easy to use app that hides most of the stuff that happens inside

Need someone local to be on site at the clients office.
Found someone, finally. He's got 4.5 years experience and is on £21k per year, underpaid by about 5k i'd say.

I'm expecting something like 40k... and that is an entry level salary. But it surely depends on your graduation and stuff.
