Thanks for all your responses. What sword skill do i require for dispatching lizardmen with ease? I'm guessing level 5 isn't enough (obviously ^_^). Oh, and i always play a melee fighter in RPGs, so spellcasting isn't an option.

When you can use bastard sword in 1 hand and you have charge you're good to clear out lizardmen everywhere.

Well, finally found that "teleporting" door in the eastern temple. That's definitely a bug. And don't try jumping through it. I went through, lured the skeletons back through to the doorway so I could fight them one at a time. After getting rid of them I decided to try jumping back through. In the process of jumping it tried to zip me up and I got stuck in the doorway. I could move the mouse up/down but no keys worked at all since it was stuck in mid animation (jump). Couldn't use esc to exit. Had to kill the task. Fortunately I quick save after nearly every fight so I can get right back to where I was. Backwards worked to go through it 2 out of 3 times for me. Once it still sucked me to the upper floor. The other times seemed to work ok.

Too bad I'm a mage. That demon killer (forgot the exact name if that's not it) sword looks pretty cool.

Am i the only one who freakin hate those lizardmen? This game seems to have a major difficulty spike, i was cruising through the gameworld but now i seem to get my ass kicked. Is there a more efficient way to deal with them? I'm using a sharp two-handed sword (58 damage).

Just be glad you didn't start the game like I did. I didn't have a clue. I didn't even spend any action points until level 5 or so. Then, not knowing what kind of choices I'd have to make or when, I dumped almost all of it into strength. I figured mana would go up with health when you gain a level. So now I'm a mage with 45 mana or so and 55 or so strength (60 with that amulet that gives +5 str +5 dex). I was doing great until fucking lizard people started popping up everywhere. Only way I can take them on is with drawn out 1v1 battles or if I lure them to another group of people since it seems that named NPC's instantly heal. I wish mana would've went up with your level or at least was tied to your wisdom or something. I can only drop a few fireballs or frost bolts before I have to quaff a potion. Oh well, not going to start over after all the time I dumped into already. May just bump my strength up a couple more times instead of mana so I can use this demon sword instead of the staff.

Laughing

The magic missile spell really gets better at higher levels, it was mostly useless in low levels and I only used fireball - but maxed out it kills a normal lizardman in three hits and its faster than frost or fire as well (no charge time, you just shoot them pew pew). Definitely recommended for any mage as the default attack spell.

I hope there are better staff weapons as you go along. I should have kept the druid's staff instead of giving it back to him. Then again, he gave me a good amulet in exchange. The executioner's staff is only 46 or something like that. His was a few points lower but did blunt damage.

the titanwing is the titan twohander.
titan weapons are not part of the titanlord armor, only the titanlord hammer is, and there is still a titan axe with the same damage stat as the hammer.

Going back there next to look. I tried the Traitor's Edge sword I found but it was mega slow (bastard sword). Took so long to swing that I couldn't get a single hit in before they hit me first.

I found some part of a sword in a chest in the Gyger(however it was spelled) dungeon. Wind something or other I think. No idea about the other half though. I was psyched that I was going to pick up that Ogre Club or whatever it was called and have a decent weapon. I looked in my inventory - NOTHING. I think it just counted as a regular club. And that bastard gnome had an Open rune and I can't do squat with it until I raise my wisdom another 35 points or so to get seal3 (yeah, I can make scrolls I guess)

Should have learned your lesson from Gothic by now. They all had shitty falling/jumping animation. Get out!!...za harry boulder is falling!! Smile)

Loving Rising btw... just as immersive and fun as Gothic 1 & 2 wore. I would have loved to update a few things but I guess it's better they kept it this way. Still think Gothic 2 was the best in the "series".

Dodger, Ogre clubs do end up in the inventory but near misc items like tools and such, can't be wielded but does a pretty impressive 100 in damage.
(Titan Staff might be useful as well, 70 damage but I don't know where to find it, special weapon.)

Did anyone manage to open the secret chests that are buried at certain gravestones. I found at least two on near the secret entrance to the city(says thief/rogue on the cross) and one on at the little island(west shore).

I have learned lockpicking level 3 but when I try to open them he says "I must pick them or find the key"...or something like that but that doesn't work. Are they supposed to be opened further along in the game? I'm currently at chapter 2...

Those heavy swords aren't really usefull (slow) unless you have a high level in swords skill.
Never bothered getting the other split sword...

Some doors/chests can't be opened with scrolls/skills, you'll get them unlocked later as you finish the associated quests.

Aside from the Jewelled shield ( +6 ) there's also a Round shield ( +7 ) and a Titan shield ( +8 ) that should be acquirable outside of the main storyline. Very Happy
(Unsure where to find them in the game though, sorry.)
