Hate it or love it! It’s here to stay!
Hating it will not make it go away!
Loving it will do nothing but make you look retarded to those who hate steam.
I am a proud retard and I love steam!

Steam rules, and it's a pretty sweet distribution system. It still has some issues, but nothing's perfect.

Agree, it works flawlessly. This "Steam and Microsoft is the devil"-bullshit is getting rather tiresome, but it seems like most of these haters are just angry kids that crave for attention.

wow, i musy admit i never expected these results from a community such as this one ... even on video card forums such as nvnews which hate warez with a vengeance, steam is almost completely despised, but here it is loved ?
it was only a few days ago that the steam update service went haywire and left many (everyone) unable to play, yet somehow even that doesn't bother this community.
I for one would prefer just an auto update option in the game menu instead, bet hey...ok so now i know that steam is a good thing, thanku everybody

couldn't give a crap.
One thing that really annoys me about Steam, is even indirectly they are deciding when you can and cant play.
When some updates come out (especially big updates) the steam network gets screwed, and when trying to launch any games (even offline aka hl2) you get a message telling you the steam network is too busy atm try again later.
"Hey, f*ck you buddy, I paid for this game I can play it whenever the hell I want."
I've only had it a couple of times when big updates come out, it's not the fact it happened, its the fact that they control everything, come on... having to contact steam to launch an offline game is bullshit.

Here is something to think about -
Your standard blonde haired, blue eyed german, living in nazi germany never had any problems with killing millions of jews.
Harry Truman never had any problem with nuking japan. |
You sir, are un-fit for life and you should ask your mother if it's no too late to abort your ass.

well im pretty sure we can al go a few days without loading up steam and playing CS (even the most hardcore of us) also its working now isn't it? they provided an update didnt they? shit its no use crying, they're not gonna compensate you because you couldn't kill people on a server also what if it was an external factor that made it crash such as a fire etc? you gonna cry then too?

Steam is great especially considering the fact it's the first time anyone has tried something like this. I've had no problems with it whatsoever and it's easy to use yet powerful. People are too eager to jump on any issues it has because they are dying to hate it. The fact is it provides the developers with more money and it's a much cheaper method of distribution leading to lower prices.
People are constantly complaining about the fact that publishers get too much of a cut yet when a solution comes everyone just knocks it. The privacy concerns are rediculous too. The only reason people bitch about it is because they want to warez it.

It's $49.95 for bronze. That wasn't really the point though. I meant that if every developer was using Steam then prices would go down.

I take great umbridge against STEAM because of its mandatory nature. If this was nothing more than a standard CDkey verification operation, this would be a moot point. But since it is REQUIRED to play and goes beyond a simple CDkey check, I can only consider STEAM to be a big pile of URINE.
And before anyone mentions the difficulty in forming a pile out of any liquid, let me mention one additional step in the STEAM process. I am referring to the process of turning URINE into GEL, as is done when hunting so as not to leave your scent. Once in GEL form, STEAM can be piled quite high to represent the way I feel about its compuslory usage.

erm...... you got ripped off? because you purchased the game via steam? if you ask me i dont think they made that much money.. sure they had the distribution and warehousing fees cut off, but they still paid for the BW and servers etc. its not as though steam has a major flaw that gives out these personal details otherwise it would be shut down in an instant and it would be sued for billions.

You must have done something pretty stupid for your account to get banned as MOST of the other steam users arn't getting your problem.

How old are you? 12?
It doesn't take much to seach for the update using google, downloading the file and installing the update.
The fact is that steam users dont have to do it. If a system (steam) can automatically update your games then why the hell would you want to manually do it?
It's beyond stupidity.

I think the point being made here was that it's not that difficult to download the updates originally, thus this system has no real use, other than slight convenience. Slight convenience is not, in my opinion, worth the risk of DRM and other "inconveniences" that will come along if the system spreads.
Therefore, if by my blathering or spamming I can hinder the system or enlighten others of it's dangers, so I shall.
