Reckon I'll keep watching, at least for a few more eps... It's not like there's an abundance of scifi shows right now (or upcoming afaik).

I actually liked the desert scenes and the slow pace of Air part 3. What ruined the episode for me were those forced, overacted emotional parts (again). Especially the senators wife and the final 2 minutes. They could've used that time for some interesting dialogue, leading up to events of future episodes. And the last song should've stopped after 1 min instead of dragging on till the very end. So far this show had a lot of good moments and a few really, really bad ones.

yea it was a nice song but it shouldve ended after col. young was taking a deep breath at the end of minute 39 (*song: dont forget to breathe....-end-*) but instead it kept on playing for another two minutes and it was misplaced in that boring final scene.
but who cares this is nitpicking I'll give this show a chance. its good, but could obviously be better. I will finally judge it after the 1st season is over. Its probably the last season anyway , it got average ratings and many fans hate it but I hope I'm wrong cause some sci-fi is better than none.

So fucking what if they are copying BSG to a degree? It still isnt BSG so watch the fucking show and stop whining. You can pretty much forget the other 2 stargates and stop comparing. Atleast watch season 1 and judge it fairly instead of this omg its not like the other stargates idiotic childish crap

Copying BSG is fine, but it doesn't fit in the SG universe and the writers obviously do not have the talent to even come close to BSG S1. Most of the drama felt forced and there was too much of it for the third episode. Shows get cancelled before they even get a chance, so such an episode can already kill this show. It was shear boredom and crappy acting.

Looks crap and feels crap. The actors (apart from Begbie) look so generic I wouldn't be able to pick them out of a line-up if they had mugged me. Blonde bimbo doc looks like any other blonde bimbo, heroic army guy looks like any other heroic lead and even the fat nerd looks like so many other fat nerds.

But wait! They're going to add 'depth' to their 'characters' by revealing more about their troubled past with flashbacks. How ingenious! Razz Lou Diamond Phillips looks out of place but he's got to do something to get out of those STV movies he was making.

And that song? Just because they fixed the air filter they put in some song about breathe? What next? A song about shooting aliens that they encounter? Man that was cringe-worthy. About as bad as when that king chap started singing that song in that weird language in the final scene of LOTR-ROTK. He kept going on and on and on. Sad

what would make the most sense would be that this is the automatic gate deployment mechanism operating, but i really doubt they've looked into it that deep

Yeah the mobile thingie makes no sense. They needed a room full of computers in SGC to simulate a dilaing device. Yet this tiny thing can do it as well? Technology is evolving I guess.

Just badly written imo if you have to use these kinds of plot devices to simplify things at this early stage. Just like the magic sand that saved their asses for the time being atleast. Or what happened to those two red-shirts. I'm sure they'll come back to those things at a later date if the series doesn't get cancelled.

I was confused by all this going back and forth to past, present, and future? At one point guy died and next thing there is a scene with daughter and mother is crying...

the base that was attacked, was it on earth? and can someone tell me what they found at the end in that desert?

What? you really should rewatch the three eps Very Happy. There's nothing mindboggling about this show yet. The daughter was in someone elses body, so she told her mother her father was dead, they both cried etc. The father was the senator who died in the pevious eps. The base wasn't on earth, it was on a planet (moon?) with energy needed for the 9th chevron. What they found in the desert was the compound they needed to fix the air purifiers on the ship.

Summing this all up I realize I didn't pay much attention while watching, or I simply forgot. Maybe I should rewatch too.

I'll give this series another two episodes before I decide completely but so far this is just sub-par to what I expected.

I thought they were using ancient technology to dial the gate remotely?

Well because the cameraball can't take samples of the sand.

They were looking for a lakebed as far as I can remember. So they should've been able to use the camera to look for a lakebed.

Sure, but no way to know what it is yet... My guess is that it'll eventually lead to the introduction of the antagonists of this series.
