Expansion key is used only for activating the game as far as I know, unsure though but when it's installed you play on expansion active servers so there might be a new key check.

yes there is check - when you connect to closed server you need enter key to "upgrade" your account and unfortunatelly expansion keys are also bound to earth regions ;/

I wasn't talking about online play. Can they find out I'm using a crack with the expansion and block my original key? Or do I not even have to activate the original game with my original key?

you cant get online without enetring expansion key
game with deleted dll dont connect online to register it - it will check it only when you try to play online

I don't know how but the affected files from what I know (You can't open the normally.) are graphics19.zip, ice&blood.zip and sector16.zip
(First one is for expansion textures, second one is core I&B data as far as I know and the last one is region data for the new areas, unsure though as again I can't open them.)

I'm seriously considering just buying the expanion... even though it's a total ripoff (costs more than the original game...?) and I don't even want to play online. It doesn't seem like anyone is going to be able to crack the new protection, which sucks...

Ok im having a fuck all time trying to get my game patched. I have the retail disks, I bought it imported so it's the UK edition but everytime I go to patch it I get the "dur game not found" error.
I'm trying to use the big 800MB patch.
Release International 2.0.2 → Update 2.40 is what I need but their site links it to 1.0

Sacred2-UK-INT-2_34_0_0-Full.exe will bring you from UK retail to 2.34, I suppose there is a similar patch for 2.40.
Btw Ascaron has declared bancrupcy and got closed, I don't believe automatic update works anymore...

SpykeZ, just FYI, the expansion is nice, adds A LOT of replayability/customizastion....

I actually bought the expansion, installed it on my sacred 2 updated installation, only to find that it didn't work in Windows 7 x64 when not run in administrator mode for the first time, I uninstalled it, but this didn't revoke the SERIAL KEY, which as it turned out could ONLY be USED ONCE.
Meaning I paid for the expansion, got it installed, apparently executed the game wrong - what?
And then after installing it again, found that it was a rental copy for full price
Take my money and don't let me use the product, cool, thank you securom.

jesus christ, I can't believe I paid money for this crap. I haven't played the game since it's first patch and now it's even more broken.
Game runs normal speed then every 30 seconds I get an st st st st stutter normal speeds then st st st st st st st st stuttttteerrrrr
never had the fucking issu ebefore, and just spnt 3 hours trying to get all the fucking patches. Im glad ascaron was closed, worthless twats.

Are you using Windows 7?
It's a engine related bug added as of 2.43, being worked on (Final patch probably.) but for now se the EXE file to Windows XP SP3 compatibility.
(And use the above SecuROM workaround to activate.)
EDIT: Actually it only affects x64 systems though both Vist and Windows 7 are supposedly affected.

man the chat sytem is really bad in this game, i played this for a while with friends trough hamashi i kept running ahead cus we were way overkill for the baddies we were at, i mean stronger enemies are more xp right?
whats the sence of killing every stupid goblin on the way, also my mount was way faster and i don't like waiting, sitting around for the rest to catch up
and the bosses wich take days to get there are ridicously easy... i think i only played untill u kill the water octupus thing.. does the game get more interesting allong the way or is it more of the same?
i dont have the stuttering tho, but i'm running a 32bit system

ya...wow...I forgot why i stopped playing this game, boring as hell with the stupidest quests.
I'm a high elf blasting foes with magical fire.....and I'm supposed to save prize winning chickens, return a necklace of an eaten cow.....
They boast the number of quests in this game, no wonder, they just took everything off the top their head and slapped it in the game.
Waste of patching time.
