Don't think the game is that bad, most fixes seem to be for multiplayer.

And why are people bitching about cd-keys? Seriously if you want to pay for the game and thus support the developers for their effort then do it, if don't then pirate it, it's like this guy is jealous pirates get free multiplayer Confused fucked up individual right there..

You sir are a fucking ass..

So im guessing arma is not for you then either ? sometimes u hike fucking 10 times as far in missions..

Seriously why do you bitch about distance in objectives if you want to play this game?

Piss off back to your standard fps shoebox...

end of file./

Have no qualms with the distances I have to cover in the game - however, in 5 hours of total game play - when a lot of that is just hiking between objectives it's a bit annoying.

Also, the primary reason for the yellow flags seems to be so you actually see some additional action between objectives...

Yes that is a bit strange, for a realistic military sim it should make more sense to get around the enemy troops, unless their death is critical for your objective, not charge at them Laughing

I found most follow me flags to be just about the best path to take etc... just learn to use the editor i guess and set up some larger scale fun engagements..

Soon as i get some time to learn it a bit ill be sure to try some out... Its the only place where your gonna see some better setups of missions..

fingers crossed codemasters dont fuck it up with the patches to come etc... and just adds to the already great base they have here.

Finally figured out away i can actually play with the bad control system. I have to hold my 360 controller in my left hand and use all of the left side controls in conjunction with my right hand on the mouse for shooting. I remapped all of my mouse buttons to match the right side controls of the 360. It is a little better.

Analog movement with mouse aiming. Took me a little while to get use to it. But it is better than the KB only for me.

Just so you know the editor has a limit on the amount of entities and objects you can place and it's pretty restrictive (40 something?) so don't expect any larger battles. (Editor will crash if you place more objects or simply refuse to compile and save the level from what I've read, you are also pretty limited in editing stuff like the island itself and various templates unfortunately.)

I don't know why it feels more comfortable for me. Honestly I usually play all my FPS games mapped to esdf. For some reason that radial menu sticking there after you hit the Q key drives me crazy. I thought i would try it out and loved the analog movement. Plus driving and flying are the real bonus. I just let go of the mouse and use both hands on controller for that. Driving is a pain with the KB!

Get a Logitech G13.. I use the thumbstick for WASD, it's really good for games that has analog movement, then you can controll how fast you go just by how much you push the stick, no need to hold shift or whatever to switch + feels a bit more comfortable/natural than WASD (or using a gamepad in the other hand lol)

If you use the stick for WASD, how would you be able to make it analog? Last time I checked, keyboards are binary, either pressed or not.

I think he has a point when it comes to the CD keys, the matchmaking server has been really slow and sometimes unreachable the last couple of days and the large amounts of people playing with pirate versions probably isn't doing the server any favours even if the actual game is played using p2p, i would probably be pissed off if i'd paid for the game and the MP servers couldn't cope with demand. But on the other hand, if they locked everyone out except the legit players there would be far fewer people to play against, the MP would probably be deserted within a matter of weeks so that guy should probably be thankful.

So they blame pirates because their server lags? Most likely the server would lag even if the game had cd-keys and fever users imo, number of users is just one of many possible problems, could simply be bad coding or bad multi, bugs etc.

Looool, don't blame pirates for lag, blame the devs for lack of possibility to setup dedicated server, how the hell are u supposed to play game with 32 ppl on some home made server with shitty upload speed -.-

you can only have 63 entities spawned at one time.
You can script enemies to spawn when one of the 63 die, so you can't have arma 2's 1500 ai battles... but you can make a constantly spawning offense.
And from what i read, the guide ADVISES you not to go over that limit of 63... meaning I don't know if it is actually hard locked or not.

Here is someone that claims to have done it:
(or thinks they know how to do it I should say)

The most realistic shooter?

Funny way to market the game instead of words like simulator or war game or something like that. Very Happy
(Besides factoring in all shooters aren't hunting games going to win, or even that old JFK "game" or a sniper or marksman game.)

EDIT: That said the game was fun although it could have been a bit better, looking forward to seeing what Codemasters will do? hopefully not console exclusive addons and DLC stuff but we'll see.

I wonder why there is no full body awareness in this game. I want to see my character's legs in a shooter that promises to be realistic.

I like the bullet physics though, and how they sometimes ricochet off the ground and stuff. looks pretty cool.

edit-

there seems to be a bit too much hate for this game. Sure, it's not like Operation Flashpoint but it's still a good game. It's more realistic than most other recent shooters ( CoD4&5 for example) and has a decent, polished single player campaign that's long enough (come on, 10-12 hours for a shooter is ABOVE AVERAGE , unfortunately).
The multiplayer looks promising and has some interesting modes and the level editor, while limited in possibilities in comparison to opflash/arma, is still pretty deep and should add quite some life to the title. Plus coop is always great to have in a shooter and adds lots of replayability.

So far, total disappointment. Arma 2 came much closer to fulfilling my idea of Opf 2... But I'm only 3 missions into the game, maybe it gets better.
