Does anyone know what the DLC is going to be about? Is it a continuation of the main plot or just a bunch of side quests?

The same points most of you have been making were also being made by people in the comments section on Blues News. One of the devs was there answering questions, check it out. He goes by the nick CrushBug, his posts can be easily spotted. Just look for a name with a green background.
Basically it's something like this Laughing

to me hosnest - all mmorpg work like contunious DLC for one game - but it ost even more, to play you pay usually 15 $ per month .... game is construtced o force you play a looooong time so what the difference between mmorpg or game with DL cpackage in both cases you pay for the game many times

MMORPG players choose to pay a monthly fee, 'normal' gamers want a complete game for 50 bucks. That's the difference. Sure the items and such seem minor, but it's the idea. Who the hell needs 10+ different version? What purpose does it serve? And releasing a paid DLC at launch? Atleast release it a month later so you can pretend it's extra content. I'm sure someone at EA woke up one morning and thought "why not make ALOT of different versions? There are bound to be some retards on this planet who'll buy all versions. KA-CHING!"

yes - its all about money
DLC idea is a way to "stop" piracy in most cases you cant / download/install LDC on cracked game - so it force you to buy it.
but from the other side it drain $ from you
now average suppor time fro game is 3-6 months thaen developer move to finish another project.
Game industry in most cases produce total crap and unlimited number of clones/sequels/prequels of the same games.

Game industry moved from the "make one good game" to make a beta product - lets see how it sell and patch it with DLC ... this started with world of warcraft .. and continue today with 99 % MMORPG and was adopted to non mmorpg titles .. ;/

Awesome video. However, the guy mentioned that there's no real cleric class (mage doubles as one) - shame.

Laughed my ass off at this bit (13 minutes in):

Guy 1: This is where the quick-look ends though, because everything is on fire!
Guy 2: Oh, that's ok man, we've got Mordakai!
Guy 1: So?
Guy 2: Morakai is a mage man!
Guy 1: Yea, but he's also on fire!

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Finally a game with lots of spells and proper magic system... Geez, took them quite a while from Baldur's Gate 2.

damn, playing mage looks annoying to me.., standing there, waving his stick,
on the other hand, warrior types jump around their enemy, swing in all directions, alternate swords and shields attack... yay

(off-topic, i really can't see a reason for developers to constantly limit mages to cloth armor and staffs in every single game - especially the single player only games.., no mage swords, no special heavy armors for them.. meh...)

Sweet. This is almost EXACTLY what i want of this game. The only thing i didn't like in this movie is the fact that they are getting up after being "killed", but then again, there seems to be at least some sort of a handicap for dying (injuries), so it should be ok. All the rest is simply great and seems quite hard enough, for a normal setting , too.

As far as magic goes, it seems they hit the nail. I like the fact that his mana is running out quite quickly, but at the same time, out of combat reg is really fast. This forces the player to choose right spells during a battle, but does not force him into any strange "resting" mechanism. He seems to have quite a bit of abilities too, for being (supposedly) so early into the game.

Now i can't wait for this game even more. Wish it was already out.

because mages (usually) get compensation in form of some sort of magic armor through spells.

And in good RPGs mages are usually the most powerful class, albeit you have to spend a lot of time developing your spells.

The review in CD-Action stated that mage is probably the most powerful class if properly developed, so that's a huge advantage for me.

Oh, I did. It just looks familiar to me. Damage display, corps with glowing little stars indicating loot, taunt skill, skill cooldowns system, it really is similar to WoW in those regards.

Did he not say 'mages can learn to use more armor and be sort of battle mages'? Pretty certain he did.

well WoW uses a system like most rpgs, simply no pausing (for obvious reasons), no hitboxes etc, but simply a dice system.

U are obvious not familiar with ADD rules or never played baldurs game series, or you would know that if a mage could use real armour (besides all the buffs and is spell armour) would kick every other class ass insta-kill type .. Well except for a thief backstab x5 Very Happy

And, when it comes to Ad&d, multiclass characters. My elven fighter/mage/thief was a god, no mage could stand up to him Razz. It was magic that made him so though lol, so yeah, other then that mages are monstrous (and funniest to play - so many options) Razz .

Mages in Witcher books were awesome. They were not only good with magick but also often quite skilled with melee weapons.
One of them even kicked Geralt's butt in one of the most well written fight scenes ever. And since then I always wanted to play mage who not fully relies on his magical prowess but more on actual strength and combat skills, but question is, is he really a mage then? Smile

I absolutely adored slingshot mage in BG2. Razz The slingshots were pretty powerful, and combining it with almost nonresistant spells was epic win.

Well, I hope the charcter builder they release will also include the skills and all such stuff, so we will know if the battle mage will be viable option in DA.

In the weeks that came after i wondered many times, where, during that fight, did I make a mistake. I made none. The mistake took place before the fight. I should have run, when i had a chance.

A loose translation (from memory) of Geralts thoughts after that fight Razz . Yeah, that was one cool scene.

Warrior/Mage hybrids are among my favourite character types. I usually play either full fledged mage - usually with a darker theme, like necromancy or demonology, or a generalist, aiming to learn every type of magic there is, or a battle mage-like character.

Char builder should be out in like three days or so, so we'll know then. I hope it's something more then appearance though, since it's the least interesting part of DA. Would be fun to see skill descriptions and such.
