The last tactical simulator - or whatever this genre is supposed to be called.. was advanced warfighter 2, and i loved it, so i decide to try out this.. game...
Started up the first campaign mission and was instantly blinded by the visual. My eyes almost bled. What's wrong with the sky ?, Is the sun turned supernova in this game? Going throu yellow to orange... Also someone trew way too much brown poo filter over.. everything..the ground, the trees.
The graphics.. well.. compared to this advanced warfighter looks incredibly hi-tech.
The initial shock aside.. gameplay time. Here's a story of a brave american (yay... ) squad:
I decided to go for the bonus objectives first.. After 10 minutes of walking thro the brown forests i approached the first position, yay.
I must be blind or something, because the AI can see me from 200 m., but i can't tell what's a rock and what's a head.. they are all the same.. blocky and brown.
30 sec. later the firefight was over, i blew up the brown thing (why i can't issue and order to my squadmates to take it out instead of me?) and went for the next point..
10 min. later i reached point 2.. yay, a bright silver APC killed 1 of my mates, because he had the urge to go close to it.. annoyance.
Finally it took me 15 minutes to go to the original objective.. and i find a jeep..(facepalm, that could've saved me 30 min. of walking around) And then brown enemy, hiding in something brown as well, decides to kill me, so i watch how my brown corpse falls helplessly to the brown earth. (So no one of my brown teammes can try to save me ? )
Restart at checkpoint time.Woo, the checkpoint is 20 min. walking time. -> Exit game ->delete campaign.
Before i unninstalled this.. thing.. i decided to see the multiplayer part.. and.. wow, no cd-key required for online ?, and it has a coop ? I will check this out.. but first..
I'll go for a walk in the nearby park when sky is blue, grass is green, and i can see objects who are not blurred and brown.
Per aspera ad astra

I dont have any problems with the colours and sky stuff ingame, it amazes me the amount of whine about a game.. so what if it takes you 15 mins to get to an objective, some in arma can take u lot longer if u got no transport..
Sounds to me that your post is nothing but a shaking fist at a game you wanted to be another cod4 variant... why dont u just wait for mw2 and be done with it?

Quick save option would make the game better by saving you a lot of traveling time if you die. Maybe in next patch?

I dont need to quote you, your grasp on english is obviously limited, I sudgested that you were sounding that way. So no I wont quote you its not needed
The only thing being pulled from an ass is your need to post your dislike to a game where you mention features/gamestyle play parts of it that are and have been known to be there from the start.. Your just looking to bash it obvously eh eh?
Now go take your RainyDay and shove it where it belongs

Rock Paper Shotgun ("wot I think");
Quote: | I’ve come this far without mentioning Arma 2, but it’s impossible to continue without doing so. These two soldier games are diametrically opposed. Arma 2 has all the ambition, character, and versatility, while Dragon Rising has all the production values, accessibility and neat design. Codemaster’s design decisions all make sense: their radial command menu is great, the missions are all comprehensible and readily executed, and they tie a soldier shooter package up with a quality assured bow. It all makes for a tidy experience, but it’s just not very interesting. For example, there’s minimal vehicular action. By the end of Arma 2 you’re commanding – even building – an entire army, but Dragon Rising barely gets beyond small arms action. Sure, there’s a helicopter bit in the single player campaign, irregular support fire, and the odd jeep ride, but Arma 2 is all the helicopters and tanks I will ever want to see in one gaming life. Imagine my disappointment when I ran up to a tractor in Dragon Rising and realised it could not be driven. This is not the promised land. |
Quote: | I realised early on that the “Operation Flashpoint” part of Dragon Rising really isn’t anything more than a convenient handle that Codemasters happened to have around. This is a game that is, spiritually and genetically, far more a successor to the Delta Force games than it is to the original Operation Flashpoint. |
Quote: | Far from being the calamitous failure that some Arma 2 fans would have liked this game to be, Dragon Rising actually just a mild disappointment, but a disappointment that leads in an entirely different direction to that of Bohemia’s project. In fact, it’s almost a lesson in why Codemasters and Bohemia Interactive should never have parted ways in the first place. Each game has something the other one needs, and they’re both flawed without it. |
You can read the whole article here, but those closing statements are the best bits.

Sure, that's true. I would have preferred a dial but with mouse selection - that way they can include a lot more options than 4 (stupid consoles and their stupid pads).

I agree with you partly on the colors - on the first mission. However the second mission is much greener and has different colors.
As for the walking, there's a helicopter near the beach in first mission - if you pilot it you'll get to the other corner of the island in abt 2 mins. There are also several jeeps scattered around.

I want my 20 minutes back.
Arma looks way better than this. AF doesn't seem to be working and the textures are incredibly low res. Playing this on hardcore I could storm a small encampment frontaly which was defended by over 15 of those idiots. The AI Accuracy is incredibly pathetic, it looks sif they always only lay covering fire for me to kill everything. I won't even go into that command system.
The only good thing about this was the intro.

i really wanted this game to be good. they shouldn't have named it "flashpoint", it's just too much of a shooter.
the radial menu is just lol. console shit basically.

May I say something totally off-topic?
The word modifiable sounds so ultra lame and gay... I would've expected it to be modable or something like that.. ah gay language is gay

the Reviewer was right this game plays and feels like a DELTA FORCE game , same 11 missions , same mission selection , same magical starting point , same gameplay mechanics (go from A B C D To kill all mofo and the go to A)
this is not a sand box game ,this is not OPERATioN Flashpoint , its a generic shooter ...
they should have called it Delta Force : Dragon Raising ... they only added OPF2 to the front to get more sold copies
thats it
if you like Delta Force games this game is a blast but if you are the gamer that loves story tid missions Stay THE FUCK AWAY FROM IT go play Arma or Arma2
