Heh, I never expected this much of a conversation about the gore mechanics, just posted those pics as a sort of fun example.

Bigger calibre does create more damage (Nothing, blood splatter, blood decal, wound, dismemberment kinda in that order.) but as you say it's not like they did a 1:1 representation of gunshot wounds and bloodloss and all other stuff (Dismemberment, trauma, shock and what else.) however it does work quite well and it's quite convincing, you're not really supposed to stand around staring at the bodies (They disappear after about 20 - 30 seconds or so.) after looting what supplies you might have required. Very Happy

As for the bonus codes they're on page 25 and that should be the complete list though a lot of codes unlock the same thing so only a few are actually needed to unlock everything (Yeah I just keep mentioning that but it'll help later on in the thread instead of people asking every ten pages or so, haha, just kidding, mostly.)

Ahh look, mother is here...

Stfu dude, gore is awesome. A game like this should really have an advanced gore system like the Ghoul II engine.

Played it for a few minutes. Is it me, or is there a brown/grain filter thats stuck on top of the graphics? Good performance though but that is no suprise.

I wonder why they decided against CD-keys. How are they gonna prevent peeps like us from playing it online?

It feels like the original ghost recon to me, anybody else think the same? while thats no bad thing I was expecting something a bit more original. Maybe have to do a few more missions to see if this changes.

I have just played this for 20 min. One word... DISSAPOINTED!!!
That Radial console squad menu is making me combat ineffective, and what's with the vehicle controls... I can't look around while driving... FUCK THIS SHIT I'm going back to play some Real Operation Flashpoint, or maybe I should try ARMA 2
This will not stand!!! Sad

No free look while driving is my one real gripe. The radial command menu is okay, you get used to it and can do commonly used commands quickly after a while. Though him calling the coordinates everytime gets annoying. I like being able to issue orders on the map view too.

So can somebody confirm if Arma 2 holds up to the original Flashpoint. I played that game to death and I want more of the same gameplay made with present day tech.

yes it does, awesome game, awesome feeling, i didnt like arma1 at all but the sequel does not disappoint (except for the bugs:D); it doesnt compare to this bad consoleish attempt at a military shooter

That's not even dual-core. And the video card will have trouble even on Low settings. I know first-hand. Razz

PostPosted: Wed, 7th Oct 2009 19:20    Post subject: NOT a COD4 spamfest, but not an ArmA2 military sim clone eit
This game exists between BF2 and ArmA2. It is not an utter smapfest like COD4, but it has none of the detail of ArmA2.

Compare the road network and the complexity of towns. OFP2 has reduced everything - from road network, variety of foliage, town complexity, vehicle selection, weapons, etc.

It is a good game and the put a lot of polish on it, but it is not a military simulator. I'm glad they included an editor. Hopefully it will be mod-friendly, but I don't know about that.

Physics is a mixed bag. While the limited selection of vehicles seem to have more weight, the physics are floaty and it doesn't take much to flip over. But at least there are no tanks flying in the air like ArmA.

Whoever said it reminded them of Ghost Recon, I would concur with that statement. The weapons feel more arcadish like Ghost Recon, but the sound FX are great!

Overall, a great game, and I will look forward to a sequel or addon pack.

I think this will be my personal GOTY. Either this or Arkham Asylum.

I love everything about that game. Artilleries are AWESOME.
