If they start attacking you just use the Joke spell or knock them down first and use it afterwards to "reset" their memory a bit (Might need a few scrolls depending on how many NPC's there are, you can just finish of generic ones like Warrior and Guard and such, don't bother with those.)

Speaking of murdering I just finished assassinating every non useful NPC in harbor town using that method, down with them and then memory wipe after looting their equipment. Razz
(Warrior of Order, Guard, Sailor, Naval Officer, Farmer, Farm Wife, Smith's Assistant - both of them - Generic Prostitute and all animals aside from two named cows Betty and Elisa I think their names were, hah.)

(Some were immortal due to quest importance so those were wiped from a distance instead, took a lot of scrolls but helped reduce unwanted attention when sneaking around.)

Have you tried the "Weather" console command? "Weather Auto" should restart it though you can press TAB and cycle between other presets, Time 10 or some such should reset the clock if that's the problem.

Tried changing back my Nvidia drivers to 177.92(178.24 didn't recognize my card) and the stuttering is completely gone!

I know these drivers are quite old, but seeing as this is the only game I'm playing right now it doesn't bother me. Very Happy

Uh have you even explored? It's not even a large area. It should be pretty obvious what to do if you look around a little.

I don't even know what you are trying to open. There's a gate at the start and a drawbridge later. Neither of which were very complicated to solve. You should have to become a snail at some point though for the second one.

A levitate scroll then if you have access to one? just walk right over the chasm.
(Bit cumbersome to backtrack a bit though if you need to get one first.)

Can get across like that no problem but the door is closed and there is nowhere to go on the other side.
Anybody know how to get in?

You get scrolls to do this, maybe need to wait till a bit later in the game.

I have a general question. When is the best time to explore? Yes it is a weird question and some will answer "whenever the fuck you want". I'm probably too weak now, I can handle skeleton warriors but it takes alot of hits. But on the other hand I don't want to start too late and realize exploring is useless.

Anytime, though I'd recommend towards the end of each chapter for major exploration as for every new chapter stronger enemies are introduced and placed around, some replace previous monsters but most seem to be static and will remain in the game until killed.
(If possible clear out sections of the island beforehand to avoid problems later on.)

Thus at the end of each act you should be as strong as possible (Act 1 limits your attributes a bit from what I know, also limits armor choices though you can get the more powerful weapons if you know where to explore.) so you should be more than prepared to handle most enemies aside from perhaps Ogres or Ashbeasts.
(Leveling up is important as well to increase max health.)

Quests and such seem to persist as well, do everything in the first or second act and it'll mainly be story missions later on with a few new sidequests here and there, at least from what I've learnt.

It loads a bit before the main menu appears, shouldn't take that long though unless you CTRL-ALT-Delete and kill the process within a few seconds.

Check your map? The quest log shows you where all of them are...

You may need to go back to the guy for him to show you though.

Is the progression to the next chapter clear? In gothic 2 it wasn't, so you suddenly jumped to the next chapter.

Hi guys, played this a tad yesterday and it's a fantastic game however my brother has installed it on his system and has run into a very strange graphical error, there seems to be a permanent "mist" over everything that looks like a screenwide decontrast filter. It is so annoying that the game is unplayable during the daytime (screen just looks white). The character "clips into" the mist if he runs backwards so it seems like some kind of weird particle effect error but I have no idea. We've attempted rolling back the drivers and changing settings but nothing seems to be helping. Any help would be greatly appreciated Smile
