There's some weapon,
 Spoiler:

in the game files, supposedly does 100 damage, quite good though not the absolutely best weapon
 Spoiler:

which does 120 damage.

EDIT: There's also a debug weapon called "The worst sword in the world (And the ugliest too.)" (5 damage) and another called "Evil bastard (forged just in time)" (42 damage) no way to get them in the game from what I know thoguh they're pretty crappy anyway.

It's a great game (definitely GOTY so far personally), but very different from Oblivion... Just imagine Oblivion, but instead of holding your hand with everything and anything (quest compass, fast travel, level scaling etc.), this game punches you in the stomach, steals your wallet and leaves you lying there.

LOL, except it does sort of have level scaling. Hungry wolves respawn as wolves, then black wolves etc. Stronger enemies in old places as you level up. And nothing is more handhold as the (DO THIS QUEST TO SUPPORT THE DON) warnings when about to complete a quest.

RetroQuestMessageSystem="false" to true in the ConfigDefault.xml file will disable such messages, though spawning seems much like the previous Gothic titles albeit there it was based on chapters.

Actually, Evil Bastard *is* attainable in-game, mate. The blacksmith in the Don's camp was selling two of them, couple hours back. It's extremely weak compared to what I'm using right now -- but I bought it anyway, because it was only 400g and is a "unique" item ^_^

8k is nothing, lol. Spending it on training, scrolls, potions and armour Wink I think I'm getting pretty close to my 100,000 achievement -- though the 300,000 is going to be fucking INSANE to get.

I was just curious whether there's some more money drains later on - since I seem to have pretty much the same skill-wise, and not that far behind in stats either.

Been completely self-reliant when it comes to scrolls and pots tho... I'm in Chapter 2 now and so far there hasn't been that much good armor/weapons in the vendors, you found any worthwhile stuff or is it mostly things you've found?

Wish you could buy learning points, that's the limiting factor for me atm. Razz

I almost never buy stuff from vendors, unless it's potions/scrolls. Weapons are either self-made or found via exploration, and armour only comes at key plot-points it seems.

There really should be more stuff to craft/buy/find, it's the biggest minus for this game... Hell I'd be happy even if they used the same models, just add some incremental upgrades so you don't use the same damn helmet (see you're still using the same helmet I am Razz) for the whole game.

Granted it's not a huge concern and Gothic series is known for this, but I've never understood why they've done this. It's not like it would be a huge investment time-wise to implement.

Hell if they release mod tools that even I can use, I'll make an item pack that adds a shitload of stuff - just recolor the textures and edit the stats a bit and voila.

Haha, so that's what the weapon is for, my theory about it being some debug or test weapon was mainly from it's name. (It_1H_Special or something like that, I'll have to look it up again, same with Bastard being It_BS_Special.)

You get it by reading books (loads of them at the Monastery) and stone tablets - don't think there's a trainer for it.

Edit:

Wonder if this typo was on purpose

My current configuration file looks like this.

 Spoiler:

It's as complete as it can be although to keep things simple (For me) I've removed the various quality levels.

What I've actually changed is the following (Plus addeda ton of stuff from ConfigDefaultNew and GenomeDefault from the PAK files for the editor and stuff.)

Keep1stPerson="true" - Was set to true but doesn't do anything, no 1st person camera outside of console commands.

MaxDistToPlayer="1000.000000" - Was doubled to allow better zoom functionality.

Difficulty="2" - Not in effect yet, difficulty defaults to "hard"

RetroQuestMessageSystem="true" - Not in effect yet either, will be used during next playtrough with the above difficulty change.

EntityROI="8000.000000" - Normally would have doubled actor view distance but it seems to be a leftover from the Genome engine, does nothing.

ViewRange="15000.000000" - For vegetation, some plants and ingredients are shown further away before fading out.

<Levels> - What wasn't set to high here (For the high quality values.) where adjusted.

<Mounts> - All texture data were set to allow up to 2048x2048 textures with no skipped mip-maps. (Probably only uses 1024x1024 textures at most but whatever, hehe.)

<Cache - Set to high instead of medium as default value.

<Graphics - Texture filtering changed from default of 3 to 4, highest quality.

<Shadows - SSAO and soft-shadows were enabled (Not really needed, on anyway for high settings.) and resolution was set to 2048 instead of 1024 with view distance being doubled and max numbers of detailed shadows set from 3 to 4.

MSAA="0" - Was left alone, black screen and texture corruption if altered.

zFar* - All these were doubled, reduces LOD distance for objects albeit it doesn't affect LOD landscape.

ScreenObjectDistanceCulling="0.000001" - Culling of distant models more or less disabled.

EDIT: ImageQuality.ini also had all sets changed to high, helps with LOD and some other things.

Well, just for the kicks I checked and...

Yes, there is no trainer ATM, but the game itself is very Cheat Engine friendly, just gave myself 999999 gold and talent points, 3000 health points and 1500 mana. ;p But then reloaded the save because it would be no fun pwning everyone with one hit.

Damn just finished this game, one of the worst crpg ever made I guess . Despite the beginning where it looks decent and it's addictive the final chapter really troubled my stomach. This game is pure fail , it lack a sense of accomplishment . I've taken the Mage path and the gameplay sucks bad ( fireball , back , rinse and repeat) , It's pratically a potion drinking game ... Items are misplaced , there are no interesting loots . Even after you make ur way trough a gozzillion of lizardfuckingmans and finally reach a tomb ( that usually means a good loot ) there is always a stupid skeleton rising from it , no loot , no nothing! (totally unrewarding gameplay) I don't know if it was only me but my avatar always sucked all the way trough the game , every moment , even from low level mobs . At somepoint I decided to rise the Sword skill (trying to variate the "fireball routine"), totally useless , at lvl 7 I still failed to manage a group of 3 or more mobs and the fireball was the only option . And the ending ... no comment.

Sorry for the rant , I just feel that I wasted 25 hours of my life.... don't buy this fucking game

I liked it too in the beginning ( even recommended it to a friend of mine), it is only in the end that you realize how it sucks... If you are able to enjoy it good for you.
