Any use in maxing out smithing if I can't/won't use two-handers? Any use in smithing at all? In most RPG's smithing is pretty much useless.

Smithing can be used for GOLDsmithing too, which lets you forge your own jewellery (adding statistics or even skills via rings/amulets)

Ok, back to the game! ^_^

anyone is playing this game with 2 graphic cards in sli?

my config is this

CPU: Intel Core2 DUO E8400 3GHz 1333
Mb: Asus P5N-D Socket 775 ATX FSB1333
Gc: 2x XFX Nvidia GT 512MB GDDR3 (SLI)
Ram: OCZ KIT 4GB DDR2-800 D-CHANNEL SLI READY CAS5

and with 1280*1024 high settings I get <30 fps in the courtyard of the monastery. it seems to me its too low as framerate.. maybe the game does not like 2 gcards in sli??
I remember assassin creed ran better than this on open spaces with the same settings.. and the graphic was way better...

Yes IW can

Not sure how its here because I'm waiting for the blasted fog-o-war fix, but In G2 best armour/sword could only be made with maxed out smithing and in G1 you could get instantly rich by mass producing swords.

Game got a lot easier once i could one hand Bastard Swords. I am a bit puzzled though, I am trying to use my destroy magical barrier scroll on a blue magical barrier and it doesn't seem to be working. I am at some ruins to the North West.

Sabin do you get a quest for those swords? I have found 1 piece to 2 different swords but no mention of any quest.

Doesn't seem like many people are going with Axes here, which I guess isn't too surprising considering I have only come across the wood-cutter 2h axe. Makes me a bit curious on what will show up.

Sadly.... no Sad Tis the only drawback to the weapons in this; no dual-wield Sad

So has anyone seen Patty after completing her quest? She said she was going back to the tavern but isn't there. I also checked her spot on the beach and nothing.

And Cyrus, the guy who sells runes in the Monastery is gone too.

Anyone found a helm other than the City Guard helm? Or a use for Obsidian other than 1hand and bastard sword? That's all I could learn.

NM on the Cyrus part.. quest related absence I see.

Still curious about Patty though. Last I saw she was walking back to town and never made it and she should since she is unkillable.

It requires near-perfect timing, but once Aric (or any human enemy, really) is about to hit you, dodge to the side and you can get a few hits in. It's slow, and even one mistake can screw things up since he does massive damage, but it works.

And if you don't die from one hit, you can do the heroic thing and run around while drinking HP potions to regain your health (done right he won't ever have the chance to hit you). Razz

Yeah definitely wasn't easy even tho I had decent strength and the bladed staff (50dmg) - still had to whack away for a good bit... You can use the quicksave during the arena fights as well btw., just remember when you're loading keep the block button pushed down or otherwise the enemy always gets a few hits in (there's a bit of a delay when transitioning from the load screen into the game).

It's a great game (definitely GOTY so far personally), but very different from Oblivion... Just imagine Oblivion, but instead of holding your hand with everything and anything (quest compass, fast travel, level scaling etc.), this game punches you in the stomach, steals your wallet and leaves you lying there.
