Overall though it's a good game, but not the second coming of Christ, as some people create it to be. Just a good, polished experience, with a good technical side, fun characters who really come alive with great voice-acting and a really vivid world. And a good , challanging yet complicated combat system. Best of all gothics, in this regard. |
A game doesn't have to be the second coming of christ to be good, if you're expecting that from a computer game then your expectations are obviously without grounds in reality. |
I know it doesn't, that was a metaphor. Meaning - a good game, but not the best of its genre for sure. My own expectations were definitely based on reality - namely: Gothic 2/ Night of Raven, and they were met, more or less. (more at the beginning, less near the ending).

Pretty sweet craftables, anyone know whether there's a caster equivalent for the necklace (or the ring as well, seeing that it's 'of the fighter')?
Shame there's no in-game way to see what you can make before you actually get the ingredients.

I love (EDIT: Or what to call it.) those things, much of a improvement over the Ogre enemies in Gothic 3.
(They even talk and such now.)

Goddamn, what a great game this is. One thing that would have been nice though, is to mark things on your map. It's pretty difficult finding specific things on it, but that just encourages exploring which is great. Another thing I like about it is how you don't magically get stronger when you level up (the usual RPG way of just assigning skill/attribute points).
Edit: Oh, is there a way to hot-key items in your inventory?

Dezztroy: press C and enter the full character/inventory page, then drag items from your inv to the slots on the bottom right corner.
*growls* Still looking for this bloody temple.

Allright, thanks, should help out quite a bit in fights (or rather, running away from a pack of wolves half-dead).

Risen 2 will hopefully not a multiplattform title. PC only!
Game was way too short. 32 hours and i've got every item, skills and visited every corner of the island. Theres nothing i didn't loot (except the Mage's and Order's stuff).
There is a major lack of quests is you got to act 3 and it feels more like a stupid linear beat'em up game.
This is totally console port shit related
If you get further u will see what im talkin about.
You get a fucking awesome armor later but the game ends shortly after that... -.-
Gothic 2 is still a better game imo. But Risen is their best one since G2... and that's a little weak. I expected much more from Risen and the first 3 acts are superb.. but then it's all going down to the dumpster.
PS: Outro sucked, but thats typical in a PH game ^^

Since you've finished it now, or can ANYONE, please tell me where the Eastern Temple is? The one that was sealed and you had to find treasure seekers for? I thought it was in the swamp, but it's not. I don't want to spend the next 3hrs searching the entire eastern side of the island >:[

It is near the eastern swamp. Search the swamp, there is a path/way and i think the temple is north-eastern of the swamp.

I've just been all over the swamp, where I was sure the sealed entrance was before, but I can't find it. It was an entrance that had collapsed and was covered by rocks, but I just can't find it now.
*gah*

take a print-screen then? It is definitely NOT in the swamp, I've just been all over the place - three times - the only entrance to anything there is a locked gate, which is not the one I'm talking about.
=edit=
Found it, it was behind the swamp >_< As in, literally behind it and not in it. Stoopid memory.

30 hours and done? That's too bad. One thing gothic 3 had was a massive landmass. Maybe in the sequel they could bring people to the mainland and really lengthen it out.
Although, like the other gothics what's fun is before beating it, going back into towns when you're all buffed out and killing everyone.

Stuck...
Spoiler: | In Chapter 3, after entering the temple with the inquisitor, I am searching for a way to open that big gate. I found a small temple, with traps & shit, got past them and those lizard assholes, but there's a gate with 2 altars on the left and right. I'm suppose to put an old bust on each of them, right? Well, I only have one left. And leaving with a teleport stone to search for another one could be an option, but I'm really hoping I can do this easier... |

Yes Gothic 3 had a big world, but sadly it was emptiness, emptiness and alot more emptiness. There wasn't anyting in it :/
People are already done? Fuck me. I think I've spent 10 hours or so now, I didn't do much yet in the town. And 30 hours is pretty sweet imo.

most games are like 10-14 hours
