and gt5p doesnt have any damage but the final version will have it. |
Yeah GT5 will have damage but only for the rally portion of the game...which sorta sucks. I dont care though..i'll have both because im not a immature fanboy hehe..both games are great and who ever says Forza3's visuals dont compare to GT5 is fooling yourself...stop the fanboyism ..lol both games look great, both games will play great..nothing more needs to be argued about.

GT5 will have both visual & mechanical damage for all vehicles, it's just that those of a racing spec will have a fleshed out damage-model with deformation and destructible parts also.
Quote: | Ispep, well your pictures and videos do a lousy job at trying to prove that GT5 looks better. I hate that bland, clinical, sterile look for GT5. Forza3 looks exciting, warm and inviting. Also notice how none of the pictures showed Forza's damage, because GT5 doesn't have any so they can't compare. |
I wasn't trying to prove it looked better and I'm not going to argue over an aesthetic preference - I was only responding to your comment to show how competitive the two year old prologue still is.

Read the first page of this thread then tell me. I'm not talking about GT5/p except where other people mentioned it - and although Glottis didn't mention it in name, when he said Forza was the best looking road racer it's fair to say that GT5p would figure in there for a majority of people. So I just posted a simple comparison as food for thought, I didn't say he was wrong, and I let people decide for themselves.

Tried the demo today. The game seems much easier than FM2, the car handles quite easily, it's much harder to spin off the track. The graphics- well, not bad but definitely not mindblowing. I am afraid, GT5 will destroy FM3 graphicswise.

Dirt2 is the bottomfeeder in this race. Without bloom it might have placed higher. Sorry, but don´t need gravel to blind me.

lol i had exact opposite experience when comparing it to FM2. FM2 is very arcadey and very easy to drive compared to FM3.

I hope that the game will be like the demo, unlike in FM2 where the demo was handling clearly different. Cars are easy to drive untill you you try to push them to the limit. Try to hit the leaderboard times and you'll have the cars over/understeering and breaks locking up ending wide on the corners.
DO WANT, NAO !

Saw f3 at a show this weekend. Laguna seca was used I think. It did not impress me. In fact it was pretty ugly. The textures looked flat, long and drawn out on the sides. Just overall pretty ugly. Hope they use another build for their final release, as this was just not that great in the looking department.

whatever, it's just graphics. it's not the graphics that keep you hooked to a game for many hours so who cares?

I think most of us do. One of the few things that separate driving games now days, are the graphics since all the mods are similar. It all comes down to driving a car on a given track, and if its not a good looking track ora car, it certainly does lower the value of the experience. And I think people expect good graphics from driving games is because they are the simplest games to have good graphics in, there are no really hard things to model, except maybe the interior.

I kinda disagree. Why are driving games the simplest games to have good graphics in?
They are running a physics engine multiple times a second (was it 60 in Forza 2), the car models have a high polygon count and the scenery generally isn't repeated in the way other games do it (i.e. FPS's, sports etc) and AI is kicking in rather than scripting. On top of that, you're running the game at minimum 30fps with no falldown plus taking environmental aspects into account (i.e. screech brakes = tire marks on road).
I'd put car games as the hardest to do purely as the machine itself is calculating more than you're average fps.

I also disagree. Im talking out of my ass since Im not a game developer, but to me it seems like its a lot easier to model a car (which I have done) than a human or other complex objects. You have nice long lines and planes in a car unlike humans. Then you just add damage layers.
Scenery is very static from the videos Ive seen. So I see no problems there, even the swaying crowds Ive seen in other racers seem like a few frames of animation.
Then animating the car is even easier (not counting damage). Make sure the wheels are spinning or dash board moving if inside view, and some lights turn on and off.
AI doesnt look hard either as its mostly either aggressive drivers or passive. So give it a path around the track, and then if its close to you or other cars give it commands to close in, slow down, go around. Ive never seen AI do something incredible, unlike online racing, where humans use ingenious strategies, and change it on a fly.
In terms in physics I cannot comment since I know little about, but to me it didnt look that different from Forza 2.

@ Glottis
You know I hate bloom.
All the videos i´ve seen looks really good, but that short ingame movie that was showed on the floor didn´t look too good. The demo also looked better. I´m kind of puzzled here. Maybe it´s just that one track that looks very bland?
