Spoiler comcerning ghost protection in swamp area:
Spoiler: | Where do I get the protection for the worker? I can't figure it out. First I thought it was weed or an amilet, but those don't seem to work. |

I've only played an hour or two but this game is fantastic. Yes I did encounter a boar and while they are pretty tough in no way is it the same as gothic 3 with the stun-lock, I was able to kill it with the sword in the first house playing on regular difficulty. This game is a must play and must buy to support piranha bytes for putting out something that is GOTY material.

I LOVE this game ^_^ Combat is a breeze now that I've got some extra moves, and have gotten to grips with the dodge/parry system, and the areas in the game are masterfully made. Finally entered the city and it's gorgeous! (well, gorgeous in a "run-down slum" kind of way. It just oozes charm)
I've finally found someone I can pick-pocket, and just like the pick-lock ability, it plays out in a strange mini-game -- ala; Gothic 2. Epic.

Spoiler: | Guarded by 2 ogres in a chest next to a road that leads north. The road is the one east of volcano keep, I think it leads to a waterfall on the most northern part of the map. |

Divinity 2 was, and probably still is - I'm not sure, my GOTY -- but as much as I absolutely love and adore that game, it just doesn't have the immersion that this game does. Creeping round a warehouse in the City, plundering everything I can find, trying my best to avoid being caught by the two guards - one of which is an Ogre!
Sheer class.

I just got the mail and there was my Risen game!
No thin manual here with only "how to install the game" no it's a small handbook, with a lot of different info regarding the combat, magic, factions, lore, enemies and some foreword. Really recommened to check that out.

Once the honeymoon is out the way, I'll have some cash again! This, Divinity 2 (though that's not till December, apparently) and Borderlands are purchases.

Decided to finally try a summon skeleton scroll, and gosh, do they kick ass! I got a skeleton named Fred (lol) who's really quite tough, and it seems he stays until they kill him. That's truly incredibile, since i can flank enemies with him, which makes even multi-enemy fights quite easy. Managed to get a rune of it too, but i'm far too weak for it yet. I can make some more scrolls with it though, with right ingredients, so my mage life just became a lot easier ^^ .

Yeah they're really good till you get to Ogres and harder creatures. Probably some better summons later I guess.

Spoiler: |
Smithy: Steal something, we beat the crap out of you
Smithy: Hurt our citizens or kill our animals, we beat the crap out of you
Smithy: And if you kill someone...
Nameless: You beat the crap out of me?
Smithy: Yeah. Then we kill you.

The dialogue in this game is excellent! The English voice-actors are brilliant too, though that would be the charms and talents of the likes of Lena Headey and John Rhys-Davies for you ^_^ Love the accents, love the dialogue, love the game.
Simple as.

Yes you have to choose, once you've set on one path thats usually the way you go.
This isn't Oblivion.
People who like a game like Risen want for there to be consequences to their choices, nonetheleast for there to be choices at all!.
If there isn't consequences the choices lose their meaning.
If this isn't for you, turn back before you regret playing this harsh game.

i don't suppose there's a tweak guide? game runs rather terribly for me, regardless of the settings.

No it's too early for that.
The game is highly optimized, I've not heard of a lot of people with issues regarding performance, quite the contrary. So maybe outdated hardware?
