The previously posted strings.pak file was (As I said) including several languages, German, French and English are apparantly working, unsure about Italian and Spanish.
Done with the French intro movie now.

EDIT: Needs to be renamed to intro.bik first before it'll be used in-game.
EDIT: German intro.

I suggest NFO creates a trophy for services rendered to the community, something like 'The Jack Sparrow Award for Diligence In The Face Of Adversity' and award it to Beckman and Sir Lancellot. |
Only JBeckman is suitable for such a prize, as he has helped people more than once with stuff like this.
Also Lancellot only uploaded a file. |
Yes, he has helped tremendously with other titles; convene the Brethren Court and lets get it done.

Cant wait to get home from work, have the 360 release already sitting at home to extract the audio from, and the russian torrent should be finished as well...
And I will really buy this on release if it turns out that it is as great as you guys claim.

Ok, installed. Used the English text pak, changed the config file to English subs (I presume I'll have to change the config file for English voices too, right? It's down as Russian right now) and mounted the mini-image. Loaded first time, no problems, set max settings at 1680x1050 - running like a charm SO FAR. 32-60fps, averaging in the mid 40s. Fight system is great, really like it, especially being able to dodge!!
I'll continue playing once I get the full English voice pak, and then give a mini-review

Still downloading.. fucking torrent and fucking rapidshare takes forever...
By the way, has anyone tested if this game benefits from sli? Theres a sli profile for risen since 190.62 driver. In gothic 3 sli was basically useless so i would like to know if this is also the case for risen.

One moment you're going around in the underbrush, harvesting herbs and killing some oversized chickens, while at the same time marvelling at the atmosphere; all the little details to foilage and plants, birds chirping, crickets and other insects, then it begins to rain and most of the sounds die out, as the animals seek shelter so do you.
You notice an entrance at what looks like a temple, run down it's pitch black!, luckily you have a torch so you light that, take a few steps forward and then you fall down into nothingness.
You fall but it's not quite nothingness, something is down here with you, it rummages around in the shadows, you get attacked by a huge cavemoth, you get a few hits in and it dies. You take a few moments to rest, then you notice this inane whispering coming from the walls, and you get slightly creeped out, you try to find a way out of this hole you're trapped in, try to keep the voices out...
The world feels so living and breathing, it is like when I played Gothic II for the first time, a slight revelation in what is good game and world design. I get the feeling that I can live in this world

Release date for the retail version should be in two days although some stores have sold copies early already (Actually began a few days ago.) so a release could happen anytime, clone shouldn't be a problem at all with the current available maxi and mini-images though a crack would be nice, at least until the first update is out.
(Will probably be a few patches for this game, haven't had any issues or something like that myself though.)
Main difference will be the proper intro videos and sound "pak" archives, aside from that this current edition is more or less identical.
(Config file localization will differ of coruse but the String.pak file is already from the English or other EU version.)
EDIT: Final part for the German voices is nearly done.
EDIT: It's done.

Ok. I'm liking this. A lot.
The atmosphere is incredible, the graphics are gorgeous, the audio is great and the combat is slick and considerably much improved over Gothic 3. Tons of quests and items and loot... I like it so far.

With the recent "big" rpg's we've been treated to recently like Oblivion and Fallout 3, playing this is really a very positive change, theres a lot of dialogue in this title, and theres a lot of humor in the dialogue as well.
Even at the very beginning much of what you say has an effect on how the world and the story unfolds, theres a lot of choices and consequences here.
Not at all like the aforementioned rpg's where everything is laid down for you and you can do nothing but experience it, here you're an active participant.
As that norwegian review stated, this will probably go down as one of the greatest rpg's in recent time and maybe all time.
Definitely purchase this title if you like rpg's at all.

Gothic 1 and 2 were one of the best games i ever played never could get into Gothic 3 however this game looks like it's going to be what Gothic 3 should have been. This is a must buy game hopefully they will make a follow up to it.
