It's interesting that many of the potions and herbs have the same names as in Gothic Smile
I've just tried 10 minutes of the game, and I must say they've really made the character a lot easier to play, it feels good just running around the underbrush and exploring Razz

I can't wait to get my hands on the proper pc version.

All we need is the speech_english.pak (around 1 GB file) and we're good to go, no need to wait for an eng. version. The eng. subtitles file was already posted.

Hehe you son of a bitch Very Happy - might be working Good idea. I see there are other intelligent people around Laughing

By the way I just removed that shiity divinity 2 and fucking venetica from my pc.

I love Risen! It runs very good. Divinity 2 manged to run choppy at 60fps (strangest engine I've ever seen) and venetica manged to run at 20 fps on a good rig with shiity graphics. Risen runs good with medicore graphics. And by the way - It's a grat game. And i didn't install the 25th path for it? Too good to be true. More than one could hope for. At last some hope for the PC. Was about to give up...

Ok I had some beers tonight...

Played it in russian-english version, and gotta say it's a very gothic game Smile . In a good sense, mostly. Feels like Gothic 2, at places almost like a carbon copy.

Performance is stellar, i can run it maxed in 1280x960 and it stays around 35-40 fps which is quite acceptable for my rig ( aged athlon x2 4400, 2 gb ram, hd 4850 ).

Don't really like how it looks though. Everything is kinda blocky. Models are low on polygons, even terrain could use some more. There's also DoF effect which is kinda reminescent of Gothic 3, even though it's not as hard on the eyes.

Overall, it seems like a good game. Must have for gothic fans, entertaining for others. Divinity 2 made a better first impression on me, tbh, but it still seems like it'll suck a few hours out of me.

I'll have to wait for the english version though. German in Div 2 was kinda easier on me then russian here.

OFF_TOPIC_BEGIN
Yes I installed 1.02. Animations are better, still it is choppy at 60fps. At all games i adjust the details/resolution to run at 60fps even at extreme conditions (else i call it "unplayable"). You can adjust divinity to 60fps (shown in fraps) but then it is still like 25fps. Don't know how the genious prgrammers managed to do this...

Here a german thread about this wonder of software engineering: http://www.larian.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=370970

By the way: For venetica the first fan patch is out which is supposed to improve performance by removing the shadows. The programmers didn't think it was necessary to give the users such an options. Still drops to 30 at times...

Definately gonna wait for the PC version of this, I've just tried the 360 version and the controls + gfx are badly implemented:

Game is too dark with no brightness setting
Controls are horrid with too much right stick sensitivity with no option to adjust
A + B button to attack and parry meaning can't change view while blocking (should have used triggers)
Can't use d-pad to navigate through items etc???

Bring on the PC version, I can definately see potential in this game It's just not well designed for a console controller.

Took forever as I have no prior knowledge about X360 ISO images but I got the various files extracted.
(Audio files, intro and other localized data.)

EDIT: Mesh pak file is 120 MB or so but the X360 version is 60 MB, odd, different compression perhaps?
(Different name as well, would really like a file unpacker to work with these, should hopefully be available soon.)

EDIT: Videos being uploaded, should be OK, unsure about voice files.
(Funny how the Russian PC pak file is 1GB whereas the localized data for the X360 languages are about 500 MB each, can't compare them without a unpacker however.)

EDIT: Put on hold for now, missed that the videos for the X360 files are in a .WMV format whereas the PC files are in a .BNK format.

EDIT: Resumed, bink player was able to re-convert the file.

EDIT: http://www.sendspace.com/file/gtgruq
(Place in the "\Risen\Data\Extern\Videos" folder.)

So, there are various localized video files, a localized string file and a localized audio file? Did you test the X360 eng. audio file on the PC version? Did it work?

And how you managed to extract the X360 iso contents? I have the X360 iso here.

For the ISO file WXRipper 1.2 worked to extract the files.

Audio files exists in English, French and German, bit more compressed, perhaps lower quality audio as well compared to the Russian PC audio as they are 500 MB each compared to that 1 GB file.

Can just be put in the same folder and then you just change the audio localization from Russian to English in the ConfigDefault.xml file just like how to change the text localization as mentioned previously when the string table file was found.

For the video files they are in WMV format so the "Bind RAD tools" or what they're called are needed, easy to convert via the command line parameter "bink.exe intro_english.wmv intro" (Will give a slightly more compressed intro.bik than the default file but it works fine in the game and doesn't look any different, same resolution and such as well, probably the default options used above just compresses it heavier.)

EDIT: I wasn't the one with the idea of taking the X360 ISO files, was mentioned above by another user but it worked fine. Smile

So JB

Intro File
http://www.sendspace.com/file/gtgruq
(Place in the "\Risen\Data\Extern\Videos" folder.)

Change the ConfigDefault.xml line Subtitles=Russian to what you want to use instead.
http://rapidshare.com/files/286098367/strings.pak

What else is needed? Very Happy

How did you extract the files, on win7x64 it won't let me do it, do you just select the iso in the program and extract the files and which os do you have for it ?

I'm on Win7x64 too. Use the wx360.exe file, then open the iso, explore the files you want, right click and extract. Very easy.

Need the audio file (600MB). My upload speed sucks, just wait for Beck to upload it and put the link here.
