If this is true, and the game works on a LAN then it could be fun.
Can anyone who grabbed this comment on this?

Other than the occasional LAN party, where the devil are you going to use this capability? To play with a buddy? "Hold on, Fred... I'll be there in 3 hours". And even LAN parties... you'd need 1000's of people to show up to make it fun. Dead idea.

As for server-power not being available @ home, I beg to differ.

Before the release, I played on some 'underground' servers, namely StormCraft. They weren't too laggy (nothing like what was seen on the Beta servers, but not too bad, either). They also were not that empty... 100-500 people. I'm not sure, but I don't think the gus behind it had server farms, as I remember it was just 2 guys, 1 holding a server on a 100mbps with 1 PC, and the other on a T3 with the same thing.

How would this release work in LAN? You can just create your own server? Are there enough uglies in there to keep couple people interested in playing through?

I would buy the game in a minute but I will never pay a monthly fee.

Monthly fee.. what is it.. a pack of cigs & a pint / month.. is that really so much.. especially when this fee leaves all the scum outside the game (talking about the ones who really even doesn't feel like playing this game "seriously") You pay 70€ once.. and you can play half a year.. = for one friday watch a movie instead of getting drunk.. and there you have it.. half year of WoW.. which is the best game ive every played.. i don't mind the monthly fee, it's the methods for payment that annoy me.
outside the US you can basicly only pay trough VISA, and i'm not gonna get a visa just to be able to play this game.
creditcards may be a big thing in the states, overhere they're still not *that* common.

those paycards they talked about at first seemed like a good idea.
i'd love to be able to buy some sort of gamecard at my local gamestore for example, with a 1 year subscription for like 100EUR or something. that would've been sweet. why can't they just do that. ;/

Agreed man, if they accept Paypal I might be interested, but I'm not gonna get a credit card too just to play WoW.

I downloaded this it thought I'll give it a try so I could check out the classes etc, but I don't know wtf I'm supposed to do with it. Confused

The crack they supplied is looking for WoWClient.exe, but that is the beta client file, this version only has WoW.exe, and it isn't even the right size.

Has anyone gotten LAN play to work with this?

i dont really want to spawn a religious debate here, but check out when your prophet "consumated his marriage" to aisha and what some muslim religious leaders condone because of that... (feel free to make witty remarks about christianty too).
And if you re a muslim, do you perhaps know what fisks sig means?

Back to the topic: As far as i could dig up from the web, there are some people who run cracked servers, but since i cant be arsed to download the non-working release and then the update to try it, i d love to hear some first hand review of those cracked servers. Are they any good?

Imagine, a world so rich, so full of life, with many many quests, with warm and hand made graphics, and gameplay that grasps deep into your soul. That is WoW, it's worth every cent. And Final Beta phase 2 is coming, so you can check it out for yourself.

The EU beta is closed, the final beta phase 1 is now underway, that's for the people who pre-orderd the CE. Final Beta Phase 2 is a small open beta with limited keys, it will come this week so keep checking this link:

http://en.wow-europe.com/

EDIT: With closed i mean a specific group who signed up in juli 2004 for the EU beta and got selected.
