I laugh my ass off when some boast that OFP2 will blow Arma 2 out of the water and keep ragging on the BIS product.Codemaster's has no experience in this market other then marketing BIS former product and trying to copy everything they could from it,its pretty evident in the videos they have released.

BUT people like games playable out of the box, not after patching it 10 times. Casual players who are the biggest market dont like to mess around with game files and workarounds.

If OpF2 plays nice, feels alive and gives satisfaction, then it's better than ArmA 2. Of course the whole idea of ArmA2 is good and fun, but how it plays out and how some mission supports are changed through patches it gets downright stupid.

a stable shit is still a shit, wouldn't you agree?
what bis put us through with arma/A2 is just insulting but i rather have a good but broken game than a perfectly functional game i don't like
original flashpoint was a total mess on release aswell but became one of my all time favourite games

Have you fucking played OpF 2? I'm taking a wild guess and say fucking NO. So shut the fuck up BIS fanboy.
What the fuck makes a game good if it's script and balance bugs are killing the experience? Graphics? Maybe then BIS should implement a fucking PhysX support to the game for MAXIMUM GODDAMN EXPERIENCE.

Defensive much? People will have other opinions than you, get used to it.

I'm pretty sure myself that this will not come close to ARMA 2. Mainly because of the fact that realism is one of their main selling points, but they've shown us nothing but unrealistic videos so far.

Getting killed with few shots in ArmA is the only realism I've noticed so far.

I wouldn't call super AI or tanks flipping into fucking air after colliding a good realism simulation.

By the way, I have bought ArmA2, so I wouldn't call myself a OpF2 fan or defender. I eaven grinded my teeth and completed ArmA2.

Exactly, I think what they are doing is refining the experience for a gamers market by making it more acessible to a wider audience, and i think it can only benefit from it, if you wan to play an ultra real sim then go play ARMA 2, if you want a more streamlined and if you like evolved experience for a mass market the go play OPF2DR once it's released. Each will have their merits and each will have their flaws, but you can't please everybody.

This Rolling Eyes....
and thats even if it does turn out to be a little more arcadey, but based off the preview I posted it's sounding like it WILL stick to it's roots and make room for more realism than I think anybody here realises, after all you cant base your judgement soley off a few gameplay videos you have seen on the net, furthermore of course they are going to show all the balls out action parts of the game in the vids - it's called marketing kids.

Wait till you have actually played the game then bash it for been unrealistic, but not before. I for one will be glad if it's a different take on the realism then ARMA 2 because then it means we wont have 2 games that are virtually the same.

i mentioned nothing of ofp2
i don't know if it'll be good or not
but praising any game on the ONLY merit of running well is retarded
i'll be sure to try it, as i will any game that even remotely has potential to be a good simulation
but i'll be damned if i praise a single game for being stable as if it had a thing to do with the game itself
i watched movies off VHS for over a decade until dvds came along
yes, i enjoy watching stuff off a dvd better than vhs, but a shit movie is still shit, while a vhs copy of any great movie is still awesome

Wink
(ok overall textures are quite xbox1 alike and the game requires a huge touch of AA, but it looks fun.)

Im STILL playing OFP 1 and having a ball with it, got hold of the Vietnam Experience mod for it and are now in the middle of jungle battles in the Pleiku area of central Vietnam, yesterday i was running away wildy from a nuclear scud detonation in a town south of me.

If OFP 2 will have the same kind of modding community and easy access to mission making i am quite sure that i will enjoy it, unless its hardware demands are completely crazy and the coders have been lazy in coding the game....Many coders could learn from Infinity Ward's COD4...runs great on my 2 year old laptop with a x1600 mobile Radeon.

But i don't think OFP 2 will run like that....

Never liked ARMA, and never will.....neither one of them!.

COD4 engine is terrible, its filled with flat sprites and high textures, it lacks alot of 3rd generation depth compared to other engines.

I beg to differ, it looks great for how well it runs, especially in CoD:WaW, it looks even better. You have to remember that CoD is mainly a multiplayer franchise, and performance in multiplayer is crucial, no one wants to play with 25 fps. That's why there are 30,000 people playing CoD4 MP every night, and about 200 who are playing Crysis Laughing

Difference of opinions.....i personally think it looks great when you use the slowdown cheat and play the game like that.

It has atmosphere and good gameplay, its a bonus that it runs great on older systems!.

I get 40 - 60 FPS in Crysis warhead online maxed out without AA, in fact it runs better then the single player part.

Hold on!!! I need to write this down in my book of useful facts Wink

Nah, but seriously - crysis in both mp and sp does demand more pc than Cod...and the majority of the games doesnt sit on the best of the best hardware Smile atleat I dont think so.

shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

The point I was trying to make is that crysis warhead performs well enough for multiplayer for how it looks on my mid range rig, only nobody plays it because the gameplay online gameplaay is pants compared to COD4 which still looks great as well.

XBOX 360 review scans.

It got 8/10. Smile

I'm sure the PC version will be superior and hope that the other multi-player mods other than co-op are worth a damn for I am in need of a good mil shooter now AA3 has disappointed me.

I actually played and finished original Flashpoint when I didn't even have broadband.
No patches, no bugs that made it unplayable, it worked like charm from start. Arma and Arma2 on other hand were both practically unplayable and I haven't touched them after bad first impression. They may be good now, but I really wasn't huge fan of the first one and I just don't find time to fiddle with patches and setting. I don't expect much from Codemasters, but I also don't know for sure if it'll be garbage.
