It is about the hype game had and what has happened when it was released and ppl got it in their hands...
And I think same as Segobi... will be bugged for sure, they suck at coding, graphic won't be so amazing due some strange rendering by engine, and yes it will be boring after some time.
Why boring? Becouse in first Stalker I still got the feeling - hey, it should be something, but of course they didn;t manage to introduce it/debugg it for retail version...
Get it, install it, play it, laugh and uninstall...
Atmosphere in game is ok for me, becouse I Live in Poland so it looks similiar to myneighbourhood from my child times, same vehicles, bus stops, communist style of buidling.. but I couldn't get off feeling - hey! I paid for alpha version...

just never got into any stalker game...
bugs, bugs, bugs, unplayable, performance issues, patches... can't use old save games etc. lol.
i tried clear sky and it just had the same problems after all... just like "Crysis: Warhead" only had a little better performance ... but its still slow.
So its the same devs and they sure do not do wonders... after all they want you to pay for a few new levels, gfx, monsters etc and tell you that the performance and eveything else is superb now...
they just do not release good patches anymore... just new parts of the game and you actually have to pay for these "big" updates lol.
If you don't like my opinion just go to gametrailers.com and post there...
btw. I love the whole idea of the stalker games...but just do not feel like they implemented it into a playable game...

They're very much playable now. I don't see why some people ruin their experiences with playing games like ARMA and STALKER at release date? I mean what's the point, you WANT your experience to suck major ass? I waited a year or so after STALKER was released and it was a great experience to play it, one of the best and most atmospheric games ever created imo.

My god is this true.
I can really, really not wait for this game. And hey, they've said that they increased the size of their testing team this time around, so maybe it will be playable at launch.

Why the fuck did you play it for "hours" before the patches if it was so unplayable then?

Another unplayable shit from creators of Stalker. These guys must learn some basics of programming and game design first.
I'm not even going to downloading this from torrent when the game come out.

In regards to having to start over the second patch for the first game introduced this as far as I know, side effect of the game engine or rather how the savegame is handled I believe, data being altered would be loaded twice or some such introducing a form of "doubling" or perhaps it wouldn't load certain things at all, this is most noticeable with spawn data in the so called "all.spawn" file which controls most entities in the gameworld such as item spawn, NPC spawns and so on.
This was sorta fixed in a later patch for Clear Sky but starting over would still be recommended due to the many gameplay and balance changes done to the game.
(In the latest patch the faction wars are more quick and aggressive, you get better gear from stashes, such as being able to find the Veles detector in the swamp albeit it's been possible for quite a while now and you can find part of your old equipment like the VS rifle or what it was called plus start with a AK-74su and two magazines of ammo for it to name some things noticed early on.)
As for bugs Shadow of Chernobyl was kinda abandoned after patch 1.006 which is a bit of a issue as it was still a bit buggy, Zone Restoration Project team fixed most of it (That was fixable.) and other mods improved other aspects or totally changed the gameplay experience.
Clear Sky saw the same thing but was supported a bit more actively up to 1.5.10 (Mainly MP and some undocumented balance changes like mentioned above.) but then worked shifted over to Call of Pripyat (Wasn't announced back then though.) and again mods fixed out the various bugs and changed the game around a bit albeit not as heavily as Shadow of Chernobyl was modded.
Call of Pripyat will probably be a bit rough in the first months so a delay to Q1 2010 for most of us potential players or what to call it is probably just positive, let the Russian community report about and get most of the critical bugs out and then the German version the month afterwards, fan translation would be nice if possible depending on engine changes and file layout (Though I expect the Russian community to work that out quite fast as usual.) but I have no problems with waiting a bit if it'll be more bug free and stable.
(Will be fun to read the translated patch notes, should give a indication if the game was rushed or not, it's smaller in scale than the other titles from what I've read but it was still worked out pretty quick as I see it but if done right should take the best parts from Clear Sky and SoC and make a really good experience out of it.)
EDIT:
http://img.gameru.net/?v=85c90.jpg
Just to show what I meant about the game being a bit smaller in scale due to it apparently being mainly about three larger game areas and some smaller stuff inbetween, ofcourse these levels are bigger (Bigger than the swamp level in Clear Sky to give a example.) but it's still on a smaller scale.

The only reason why i didn't like stalker clear sky was of the A.I. How is it in any way possible that one hit you when he's 250 meters away f.e. and yourself making a headshot from a distance of 5 meters and do that even twice ( the headshot ) and the mercenary stays alive as if nothing happened :S
I can't imagine that's it's done intentionally because this way of gaming is only for the hard core gamers among us and the majority doens't like playing like this. But as for me it seems that a bad A.I. and games from russia or countries from former eastern europe walk together hand in hand and exceptions can be count on one hand.

AFAIK, Oblivion Lost, Lurk and AMK are the best ones. Along with those, you might want to get some graphics mods.
Edit: Oh wait.. Do you plan on playing SoC or CS?

Oh well so that's still a no go for clear sky of me, the other stalker i played without mods, hard but not too hard ... also problems with the A.I but not even near to CS.

Wow, looks like this will be the first STALKER game that they didn't let leak.. maybe the enhanced security is a sign of better testing as well. We will see.
