Are you kidding, dude? I'd need a damn sight more than 500 gold pieces to go tangle with a bunch of bears, yo! I'm gonna need at least 750 before I even get out of bed Laughing

seems to bepend on how far away it is.
if it's close to the guild the hero will go there for much less cash.
higher level heroes also want more money so 500 gold won't get you too far once all your heroes leveled up a bit.

I think the amount they already have is also a factor. Why would they bother for a measily 500 when they have 50k on them with the best gear available.

I'm starting to wonder if it's a crack issue or a dev issue , let me explain..

The difficulty is insane , the king rat mission you are placed surrounded by nests with king rat attacking every 2mins at a health of 25000+. You are not given enough time to really build up a defence....

The dragon mission , the guy says don't let the dragon see your flag but within just a few mins he spots your palace flag and attacks your palace. If you build to the south you are attacked by one small nest but an elemental which is far harder to defeat. While you are building up the dragon keeps attacking your palace soon to be also attacked by smaller dragons/snakes and you die. If you build anywhere near your palace the dragon wipes out your heroes and any buildings.

The difficult curve from majest 1 to 2 has gone up a cliff , it's becoming tedious!

Cant say for the dragon mission but i managed the rat mission a few hours back the first time around...

It was not even hard. Did you try and kill the rat king the first thing you did?

As you might noticed he didn't do very much, he just came up and then he went down again. Build a tower in the middle of two of the sewers and then get lots of heroes out and then you will win.

The whole point with that mission was imo to not give you much time in the beginning. But once you survive that its very easy.

Ok i managed it.

It was kinda hard at the start.

The first attack with like 10 small dragons + the big one was the hardest moment, after you kill this attack its not that hard.

My strat:

Get Clerics and Fighters first. ( clerics is needed fast cus the enemys around is to strong)

I also like to get the market fast to get money and get the potions.

Attack the nests around you, there are like 4-5. Dont attack de big thing down right, i did by mistake after not very long and it was a pain to kill it Smile

Also build 2 towers or so near the sewers. This is good it makes good sacrifice buildings for the big dragon. When he attacks he most of the time kill a building. If its a tower its good, just rebuild directly after. This way you don't need to worry to much about the dragon.

Also try and get all the trade routs up and going as fast as you can. If there is many enemy's around, put 1 hero to defend while its building. Then a tower and upgrade it and it will withstand pretty much.

Make upgrades on fighters first, theirs second lvl and third lvl is very good. Also the "call to arms" thing is very good at the start when there are massive attacks!

I didn't care for dwarfs, i skipped them almost completely. Got elves instead. got them kinda late so it was not easyto get them to stay alive for long but after a few deaths they managed.

Then it just goes on, and i got 2 of my best heroes in at the end of the game and used them in 2 party's and attacked.

I also for fun built towers around the edges before i attack the dragon, where the random enemy's come in so i didn't need to think about them Smile But this is overkill.

I almost killed the dragon while he have his protection, got him down to like 6000hp from 25 000 Very Happy Didn't really try, just let it ran on auto to see what would happen Smile

Hope this helps, gl!

Off topic, but..

One of those well behaved games that just needs :

...Majesty.exe" -w

inserted in the desktop shortcut. I find Win 98 compatibility works best in Win XP

Yea, the longer you wait the more creatures it comes. So that's why its good to be fast in the beginning to attack nest before anything lives there.

Dwarves rock i allways grab em when i reach lvl 2, the new towers u get then are amazing (but very expensive after 2 or 3).

My main strat is mostly build 2 guilds + market, get those heroes out asap and invent potions.
Then i upgrade those guilds to lvl 2 so they have more hp and can hold for some time if something nasty comes up so soon. After that its more build rest of guilds and get those upgrades.
Building Towers next to each sewer or the graveyard and here + there so secure some areas.

Arrived at the expert missions now and well... not so nice Very Happy But the hardest mission till now was the Gold collecting one i finished it after my 3th or 4th try on day 34 ^^

I don't think such option exists, I couldn't find anything in the manual.

Also, how do you use rogues? All my rogues constantly die, even with all the updates researched. I do build them a little later after all other guilds, so maybe they are forced to handle higher level enemies from the start...but still, I don't understand the point...

I do the same, depending on starting money, 2-3 guilds. I usually wait with rogues.

Im not sure what i like most, elves or dwarfs. If i have to choose one im not sure Smile Elves speed up an entire party if they join one, and they are very fast and lots of nice skills.

Dwarfs are good tanks and as you mention get good towers. But when you get dwarfs you often have pretty good fighters who do the tanking.

Also the spell you get from the elves is much better than the one you get from dwarfs imo.

If you need to attack buildings dwarfs win, but that usually is no problem so late in the game.

KGen: Build their guild near the graveyard or a sewer so they get some easy kills. They are weak at the start but i think the get pretty good after you upgrade them.

I get rouges and mages after the first sewer/graveyard appears, like mentioned above, they gain levels quickly with a few rats or skellies outside their doors! Smile

Dwarfs are a must imho against some obstacles that are magical in nature.

Yes true, after their anti magic upgrade they are very good vs magic!

Perhaps i should play around a bit more with elves then ^^ what temples do u guys prefer ? atm im building every map another one for a new lord.
Paladins are great but dunno how good the others are ^^

I like to get rogues out so fast since they are cheap and tend to buy lots of stuff at the start Very Happy

I don't really like rogues that much but they are cheap and if you have lots of enemy's i tend to get them faster.

And extortion is sometimes a must early, this is their best ability imo.

Im on the first mission with temples atm and haven't built any yet so cant comment Smile

Dunno about best counter for them but i found that mission very easy and finished it on first try.
Started with Cleric+Warrior guild and then 3 of each hero which was enough to fend off early attackers, marketplace+blacksmith with all level 1 upgrades that you need for the 2 heroclasses you're using atm.
Save up gold and upgrade everything to level 2 in order to build dwarven settlement and pump out a few towers, 2 on each flank where you see the enemies attacking.
Make 3 dwarves and build the elven building and get 3 elfs out.
Get everything upgraded and build all guilds even if you dont plan to use their heroes just so you get their benefits (poison, weapon enhancements etc..) and build the magic bazaar and get those upgrades as well.
After this i built the Hall of lords and pumped out some level 25+ heroes (wait until your economy is really stable, at least my heroes go for 15000+ gold each) and then just start attacking the enemy towns which is rather easy since they dont rebuild so you can take your time, though once i started attacking i had razed both towns in less than 5 minutes total.

this game caught me by surprised. i actually beat the campaign. i have not heard of majesty 2 much less majesty 1. at it's core is an rts game. the twist is you don't directly control your warriors or citizens. they go about doing as they please. you can set prices on wayponts to up the priority to get them to do stuff you want more.

the graphics remind me of warcraft. it's simple and stylized. the camera is too zoomed in for my taste even at max zoomed out (supreme commander spoiled me). the campaign maps are quite small to medium size.

what's odd is there is no skirmish or custom mode to play after you beat the campaign. sure, there are single games that you can play but they're preset. both are strange design decisions.

anyway, this game is enjoyable but not a lot of replay value unless you play multiplayer (which i don't).

Yeah they really fucked up not offering majesty 1's skirmish. I would axe the campaign for this feature in Majesty 2.
They did add an editor, but I think it's sort of pointless, since its seems difficult to make unique scenarios anyway.
