PLEASE incorporate more weapons....better drops.....at least more interesting drops.

I did LOVE the witcher, but have not beaten it as there were not enough drops....or type of drops.....uninstalled because after 3 hours I had found ONE sword that was different than the original one I started with....

THEN none of the weapon upgrades are permanent......just time based....sucked.

If you base the quality of an RPG on the drops... then... urgh.

You can get 4 swords I think, but I sticked with the default one. And you can upgrade it permanently using the stones.

Fantastic news indeed. Very Happy

I just hope the publisher is a "respectable" one and doesn't force them to make it console exclusive or something like that...

1) They binned the console version of the original game
2) The battle seems to be pretty much the same, heavily mouse-driven

So I guess, it's gonna be another RPG for our glorious master race.

Great news. Way too few RPGs around lately and if actually manages to improve on the already great The Witcher it must be really awesome.

Lovely. I was disappointed when Rise of the White Wolf wan canceled, but this makes up for it tenfold. Wonderful.

Quick time events. That's one HUGE turnoff for me at least.

Really, now, from the footage, it didn't look obtrusive at all, and it doesn't look like a replacement for the bulk of combat.

Besides, really now, what does it amount to? Every once in a while clicking a specific mouse button that it tells you too? Sounds like a decent way to occasionally break up the monotony of "right click, right click, right click, right click, right click, right click, right click, right click." As long as it doesn't replace combat, it's not a big deal.

Hmm, one problem with the video. I know it's only an Alpha, but that is not the same voice for Geralt as in the original. Hope this is just a place filler for the real voice actor.

Clearly placeholders.

Do I sense sarcasm? Very Happy

But I don't think the combat system is heavily mouse driven...seems pretty easy to implement to a pad.
Quicktime events just scares me a bit too. Not that I detest them, but I could do without them.
Just hoping it's as good as the original. Smile

Judging by that video it looks they're implementing some advanced AI npcs, if they manage the level of Gothic this thing may be instant GOTY.

heres hoping it'll be a pc-orientated one again, and not a console version with a pc port like so many games these days. they tried to make a console version of the original and canned it because it just wasnt as good as the pc version... so yeah... please please please pc-focused game first and foremost Sad

just caught the vid, and it looks like its coming along amazingly. i too am not a fan of QTE, but if they ONLY happen on one or 2 occasions like seems to be the case (boss fights), and they are incredibly simple to get through (click left button or click right button) so that i can actually enjoy focusing on the COMBAT animation, rather than focusing everywhere ELSE waiting for the QTE symbol to pop up, which is my main problem with QTE, then ill be able to deal with em just fine.

looks like its a pc focused game again which is good, and i hope that remains the focus... if it does, we'll have one fucking awesome game to look forward too again... makes me want to play the first one again... i think i will Very Happy

I dont know why there is such an uproar over the QTE. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasnt the entire game one large QTE? You would left click each time the mouse cursor would change colours to make a move. Confused

Still have to play the first one, hopefully there will be a copy in the bargain bin at the local games store.

I tried to play witcher.. twice... because everyone loves it, and i tried to understand why..

But it's not for me... i found the battles and all the action encounters to few and to rare, compared to all the running back and forth talking to npcs...

There are no items - rare weapons and armors to equip...the story looked interesting but if i want nothing else but a good story i'll just read a book Smile

(conclusion, it turns i like only action rpgs i suppose Smile, tho.. i loved mass effect and all the kotors.. go figure...)

The publisher is at the same time a developer. At least in Europe.

Yeah. In Poland it is released by CD Projekt, while the game is developed by CD Projekt RED.

Ya,afaik atari released the first one in europe and in states(at least I got a big atari logo on my box).
CD project only released it in poland and maybe in some neighboring countries.

And wasn't this video "leaked" in order to find a publisher?

If they would follow this it wouldn't be a Witcher... rather another Gothic or Diablo.
Read the book, feel the atmosphere than u will know why there are no so many weapons.
And drops? What would u expect? To drop a chest of gold from random wolf ?
It was somehow hardcore RPG, not flashy arcade console stuff.

Agree'd keep the drops and shit for the craptastic hack n slashes.

There was also armor too btw, you just had to buy it for 5K which was a moral decision, buy expensive books for alchemy, or buy a new badass armor.

I think more drops would be stupid. As everyone has said finding a sword on a "Giant rat" is just so ridiculous. The inventory system from the first game was great. I would like to have more side quests in the game that yield new weapons however. I remember doing that quest with the "Lady of the Lake" and finding the sword to be pretty much the same.

Come on, it's not like that'd be the only way to increase loot. Of course rats shouldn't drop anything (just some minor ingredients at best, rat tails or crap like that), but the Witcher wouldn't have been a lesser game in any way had there been more options with gear.

More variety & options from vendors, quest reward items, etc... And I doubt anyone would honestly want stuff like 'Brutal Axe of Fire +5'' in a game like Witcher, you could have loads of variety even with realistic items only. As well as armor slots instead of just full suits.

Witchers had specially designed armors so they won't slow them down, so having an option of having different parts of armor is useless IMO.

There could be some additional inventory slots, on this i agree. Like a new belt , with more slots for potions, or even a cloak with some different effect, or some parts of the armor. That would be cool, would expand the inventory system and wouldn't hit lore and the feel of "realism" in any way.

This game was even buggier mess than STALKER Clear Sky. That's why they released enhanced edition. I strongly suggest you to try that one instead of original. And don't forget to patch enhanced edition immediately because if you have Sound Blaster card then game crashes at start with some DLL error message.
