Anybody using the manual (uhm, can you call it "manual" if you use your foot?! well, what's the contrary of automatic for that...) clutch?
It seems to me like you really need to heel-toe when scaling down gear in order to get a smooth transition and not lose some time...
Anybody experiencing the same?

Try this:
Start a quick race with 15 opponents and wait until all are in front. Post screenshot of fps or I call bullshit - ain't no one else lucky, everyone has fps problems. |
I never get lower than 30fps. Game works fine with my q6600 2.4ghz 9800gt AAx8. Gettin from 40-60fps. When there's alot of cars in one place , getting 31fps

I always use heel-to-toe.You need to use heel-to-toe always whe you use manual+clutch.

Yeah, but it feels like in GTR Evo for instance or NFS Pro Street it did not make such a big difference as in NFS Shift (and I consider this to be a positive for Shift...)

i've got similar problems with Shift and running like you guys Xp but i'm going to install Windows 7 tomorrow morning...many guys using Xp have errors and many other using Win7 don't,maybe it's no coincidence

Those of you that can't even start the game, are you using ATI ?
Also, how do I unlock the Works thingy ? I think I've done all the upgrades on one of my cars (?) but I don't see any Works option or something ?

I have the black screen after loading bar, have to exit via task manager. I'm running a 9800GT with latest drivers and windows 7 x64. Weird thing is, sometimes it's worked and I've been able to play but mainly it just crashes. Things I've tried:
Disabling DPI for the .exe
Running as admin,
Installing CCCP codecs
Running as Win 98 (works but performance drops through the floor)
Something else that escapes me right now, but it didn't work...
I have NOT tried the video-rename thing, primarily because I'm not sure which one to alter.
When it does work, performance is stellar on max settings 1280x1024 2xAA.

EADM is not like steam, from EADM you download game setup which you can backup easily. Or 1 year is not enough time for you to burn a DVD?

Lol, weird, you could try to run it on high priority to see if it's better. Open a command prompt and got to the game's folder and run
start /HIGH shift.exe
or maybe cross fingers and try
start /REALTIME shift.exe
And for no-intro rename these 2 files (inside Movies folder), so the game can't find them :
Attract.bik
Franchise_Ident.bik
And remember to disable the EA autologin from the options.

OK, Tried the Cmd prompt trick (elevated it first) and the game launched fine. I disabled the auto-login and completed a career race. The game gave me my awards, saved, then went to black screen with the loading circle frozen in the bottom right. In Task Manager, 'Program Not Responding'.
The game won't launch now, same as before. I'll try the video trick next and post back with results. Thanks for your help btw
