This game doesn't support Windows 7. You run it on your own risk.

I'm running Windows7 x64 and it runs fine. Old ass E2140 dual core (not even core2duo) running at 2.4ghz and some slow ass mismatched ram and the game runs well for my system. Everything on medium with textures on high 2xAA. Oh yeah, 9800 gtx+. By no means a fast system by today's standards.

And not sure what the issues with people complaining about not being able to control windowed mode and AA. Both are in the display options for me.

190.89 are leaked drivers from nVidia which still have issues. They are not officially set free by nVidia so don't touch them!

Its not really playable with 30fps. You need at least 40fps in my opinion.

No LAN option, but from what i have been reading on various websites it seems the LAN option will be added in a patch. Unless its the usual EA BS where you have to login to be able to use the LAN feature..

Please DO NOT quote me on that, just read it on the Shift forums, but not confirmed by anyone.

ok so the last posts were 50% chitchat about the nice/sucky gfx, 30% about how geforce cards are better than radeon, because of their drivers and 20% about how much win7 sucks, even if it's not win7s fault.

May someone comment on HOW the fucking game plays and if it is nice to drive and arcady or more like a simulation? Whats good and whats bad about it? A mini review please? Compared to Grid?

I am playing on Intel E5200 @3.5 GHZ with Geforce GTX 275 and 190.89 drivers on Win 7 x64.

Everything maxed out with 4xAA and 16x Aniso FPS (with vsync) fps mostly 60, only with many other cars on the screen it can drop about to 40 fps.

Game looks and plays great. Recommendend!

I quit trying to make this work. The game is fucked and there is absolutely no pattern hardware/software wise why it's not loading the test lap for tons and tons of people. I'll wait for a patch.

Perhaps a crappy reloaded-crack again....

But its allways easier to complain about the devs instead to try to think that many of those problems are caused from the crack (there are more then enough examples for problems caused from the crack...)

Try running the game with the windows 98 Compatability mode. And without a steering wheel. That seems to fix my probs.

Yeah myself as well as others have tried.

-All Compatibility Modes
-All Drivers
-Disabling Hardware
-Changing Affinity (Defaults to 1 Core on my Quad?)
-All Video/Audio/Control options
-Reinstalling
-Deleting Profiles
-Everything else imaginable

Basically it's random. It occurs on all OS's with both ATi/AMD and all kinds of different hardware configurations. I'll just conclude that it's the crack for now and go for the Clone.

Changing graphic settings triggers the crashing for me. By creating a new graphicsconfig file in Documents/NFS SHIFT/ folder it's not crashing anymore.

Just installed and played half an hour or so, pretty cool stuff !

Takes a while to set all the control options+assistances exactly right, but then it's very nice !

Thanks for the info MadK9, pity it doesn't have it in from the start. Here's hoping they do add it on in a patch. Smile

Just been having a few races on Shift .. it's actually not bad! Very GRID-esque, but looking considerably better. Can be tweaked for more "arcade" style, or more "simulation" style, and since I prefer Arcade, that's how I like it. Don't use "Casual" though, urgh - game might as well play itself for you :\

I miss the cities though Sad circuit racing is meh, unless it's Ridge Racer Very Happy

Definitely has performance issues though, max settings and 4xAA drops the framerate to a touch under 30fps when other cars are in view - and AA barely even seems to be working either, jagged to FUCK everywhere. dropping 4xAA to 2xAA and it's much better, 45 when other cars are in view and about 50-75 when they aren't -- but that just further increases the jagged horribleness.

Still, so far after a few races; it's good! Not in the same league as Most Wanted, but not terrible like Undercover or Pro Street either.

Thats Shaderaliasing. You would need a special AA methode called SSAA to clean the shaderaliasing because the normal AA doesnt clean the shaderaliasing.

To use this you need
1. nhancer
2. deactivate motionblurr ingame
3. active SSAA in nhancer

BUT... SSAA is very performancehungry

Circuit racing is the shit especially when you track your car in real life at thel locations. (Laguna Seca, Willow Springs!)

Every NFS prior to this cannot be compared.

I already get less-than-stellar performance as it is, lol. I'm not about to drop that even more by forcing power-hungry techniques Razz

Thanks though, worth checking out for other games.

@Krazy

Circuit racing never interested me much (aside from the aforementioned RR series) I miss the open world street racing of U2/MW/Carbon.
