That's got to be the video driver.
Try updating it and restarting the pc.
If not then perhaps reinstall the game? (long shot)

Set this up on XP so far and is seems to be performing really nicely, only minor slow downs when I destroy a really large structure like the main GDF bases, so far it's running better than I expected it to at around 30+FPS most of the time.
Gameplay is fun except for the the vehicles, they handle like shopping trolleys on a fucking ice rink, but at least they are fast.
Just made it to the dust area, hoping the story picks up a little bit, seems a bit sparse so far, perhaps it's the way it's being put across in game, but I'm not far enough in to tell if it's going to get better.
Will try it on Win7 tomorrow and see how it runs in DX10 mode. Running an AMD X2 6400+ 8800GT's SLI.

Well other than the stupid crash after I just went on a rampage and destroyed half a map but lost it.. this game is a ton of fun. Performance isn't bad. Playing with a gamepad so it's a bit challenging on medium.

Still can't get the speed to slow down to normal...
So far I've tried -
Installing to OS drive (C: instead of D:, figured maybe some setting file wasn't getting overwritten or something) - didn't fix it.
Enabling firewall (people said it was calling home, figured maybe that's what triggered the glitch) - didn't fix it.
Moving the original unaltered .exe OUT of the game directory, leaving only the crack (In Darkstar One, if you simply renamed the original .exe but left it in the folder, the game would detect you were using a crack and pop up all sorts of triggers) - didn't fix it.
I'm all the fuck out of ideas and have no clue what the hell could be causing a game to run TOO FAST - I'm having DOS flashbacks for fucks sake....

Lol, I think my game is also running a little faster than normal, maybe 30% faster. I thought that was just how it waas meant to be, lol.
I have about the same specs as you Immunity, e8400 stock, gtx260, 4gb ram, win64, latest nvidia gfx drivers.
Question for you Immunity : Have you installed the Intel chipset drivers for your mobo ? (if it has an intel chipset)

How did you enable DX9 mode? Or are you on XP? |
doesn't the trick with "-DX9" work? or right click on a game in "games" section-> play in dx9??

If you have doubts about whether your game is running too fast - pay attention to the intro dialogue where you can't move - you'll notice his gestures and head movements are way ahead of what he is saying. It's no big deal at first, but when you start getting hordes of enemies the speed problem compounds really fast.
Haven't fucked with my chipset drivers, no. You?

It's the XP... It's so much faster than Vista and 7.

@ Immunity
I've recently installed my chipset's drivers. Can you please go to device manager, under system devices. Is there a high precision event timer there ? And what company and date is listed for its driver ?
EDIT: @leo you noob, I'm on win7 x64

My board:
MSI P7N SLI Platinum LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
Haven't touched the nForce chipset drivers at NVidia's site in forever.
No high-precision event timer under system devices.

the game is fun, reminds me very much of far cry 2 (cars ,safe house, missions)
there are glitches for me in the vedio some times a black square is showing and disappear,
probably a patch or a new (nvidia) display driver will solve that, but for now the game is just fun.

To everyone having super fast issues.
I enabled "ambient occlusion" and it stopped.
Edit: Everything on high by the way.

A silly question, have you tried enabling/forcing v-sync?

Me, Immunity and you VGA have exact same OS and CPU and we all have the speedy problem.
I think maybe CPU is a problem, though it's really weird...
I wonder if I mess with BIOS and CPU config it will do something.
At first I thought maybe Dual Core optimization was messed up in this game, so I swtched the game to use only 1 core, still no dice- runs too fast but now lags(if that makes any sense).
@Leo- yep, i've tried it, no dice.
However, I noticed that in game options don't allow me to choose my refresh rate, instead it allows me to choose ones 1 Hz below mine.
I currently have 75Hz on my monitor, and the game allows me to choose between 74 Hz or 59 Hz, nothing more...

No dice Leo.
My FPS is smooth as butter - I seriously doubt its a GPU issue. It has to be something either related to a configuration file with a wrong multiplier somewhere, a cpu/board issue, or a bad crack.
Best way to describe it would be like what happens when you try to play an old dos game on a modern day system without slowing down the cores, everything is just sped up unnaturally. Strangest shit ever for a modern day title - usually I'm bitching about it lagging. Not this time
