This is weird. The game worked fine for me using dt lite + yasu but only until I restarted my system, now I'm always getting the "emulation software detected" message when starting it.

It worked for me on XP64 after i did the following:
Mount Mini-Image from GCW in DT Lite with all emu options ON, without Yasu
Create a VC9 Clone of this using Virtual CD 9 with all clone options enabled.
Disable all DT drives, maybe close DT at all.
Mount the VC9 clone into your physical drive (the driveletter of your REAL dvd drive)
Done

Game looks great so far but it has some serious texture oversharping and a very bad performance if AA is enabled from the game settings. Ground textures and trees are flickering like hell for me. Anyone see this too? GF 9600GT on 182.50 here.

Yep the texture flickering is very annoying, i wonder whats causing this. AA and AF doesn't seem to help.

Partly mentioned in the preview I posted close to the start of this thread, some sort of lack of mip-maps for the textures so things are quite sharp even for distant objects and especially when using high levels of AF.

Well, that flickering is a no go for me, just another game set on ice until patched to be playable. Same thing with Divinity 2. How can game mags review this with 88%, completely ignoring the technical issues. Fuck them, thats the main reason why i am a pirate.

"Some technical issues". It's not only some technical issues.

The game looks bad (there seems to be no mip-mapping) and runs with low framerates even on high end hardware. Turning down the few settings doesn't help. For me it is totally unplayable. I doubt it will be ever patched to be playable.

But the game got good feedback in Germany. But I also don't understand why. The performance is awful and the gfx bad.

I would've thought my post communicated sarcasm very clearly, evidently I was wrong. But let me now phrase it so everybody who can read english will understand it; I was being sarcastic.

I can't stand this game, or it's developers, nor can I stand games that flaunt themselves as being rpg's without having any choices and consequences at all.
Which is why I mostly play old games, and dislike new rpg's, not because they're new, but because they're bad rpg's.

Played the german release until I passed the first boss, after that there are too much things to do to continue playing understanding only the 5% of the text, however it seems to be a quite good game but with a lot of graphic imperfections.
I hope they'll fix them for the english release.

I've played around with the various utilities to work with the game text (German.bin) which is how the Russian translation was created but those guys had far more time and dedication than I as each line has to be inserted by hand after extraction.
(11534 or so lines all in all as of 1.01, would take weeks as it did for the Russian localization and just doing the menus and stuff isn't worth it for a RPG as the text is much more important, still I think the English version is scheduled for release in November sometime.)

It's just a rough base, the file itself isn't touched or altered in any way due to the time it would take to put in the altered text (Line by line one at a time.) but it's a start though hopefully the fully translated and localized version arrives later this year.
(Game itself seems to have been receiving some mixed opinions, some technical issues for example.)

Before installing Venetica, check the minimum and recommended system requirements shown

game without any problems. If your computer meets or exceeds the recommended system
requirements, you can expect a significantly improved gaming experience.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Free hard drive space:       10 GB

--------------------------------------------
Recommended Requirements
--------------------------------------------

Processor:          Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E8200 2,6 Ghz or comparable CPU
RAM:             2 GB for Windows® XP, 3 GB for Windows® Vista
Graphics card:          NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT or similar Graphics card with 512 MB RAM
Optical drive:          DVD-ROM
Sound card:         DirectX® 9c compatible Sound Card
Free hard drive space:       10 GB

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Installation
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Place the "Venetica" DVD into your DVD drive.
2. After the automatic startup, click on "Install Venetica" to start the installation,
and follow the instructions on the screen.

--------------------------------------------
5. Manual installation:
--------------------------------------------
If the installation screen does not appear automatically when the DVD is inserted, it
is possible that the “autorun” function is disabled. In this case, proceed as follows:
1. Double click on the "My computer" icon on the Windows Desktop or open the
   Windows Explorer.
2. Double click on the icon for your computer's DVD ROM drive to display the contents
   of the Venetica DVD.
3. Double click on the "SETUP.EXE" file to start installation and follow the
   instructions on the screen.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Running the game
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can run the game by double clicking on the "Venetica" Desktop icon or via the Windows
start menu: click on the "Start" button at the bottom left of the screen, then on
"All Programs" (possibly also "Programs"), then on " Venetica" and finally on
"Venetica" again. The game's DVD ROM must be in the DVD drive.
To ensure that the game runs smoothly, you should close all other applications before
starting the game. This also applies to programs that run in the background and are not
displayed in the task bar (you can usually deactivate these via the icons displayed
next to the system clock).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Uninstalling the game
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Click on the "Start" button at the bottom left of the screen, then on "All Programs"
(possibly also "Programs"), then on “Venetica" and finally on "Uninstall Venetica".
The uninstall routine will start automatically when you confirm the subsequent query
with "Yes".

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. Troubleshooting
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Should you experience problems related to the display or the performance of the game,
or if the game crashes, you can either change the game settings or your computer's
system settings.

The game does not run at all. (This means you can’t see the game’s start menu where
you can select "start game", or the game crashes after you selected "start game".)

First you should check whether your pc meets the minimum requirements for Venetica.
If it does not meet the minimum requirements, the game will probably not run.

Was the installation successful? Maybe your hard disc was full. In that case you will
need to remove Venetica, free some space on the hard disc, and install the game again.

Do you have the latest version of DirectX installed? The game requires DirectX to run
correctly. You can install this application from the game DVD if it was not installed
automatically during the normal installation process.

Is other software running that might interfere with Venetica? You should check your
firewall and antivirus software and settings.

Are you using the latest drivers for your graphics card? Please make sure that you are
using all the latest drivers for your hardware.

NVIDIA (GeForce graphics cards): www.nvidia.com
ATI (Radeon graphics cards): www.ati.com

If the problems persist, make sure that you are using the standard settings, because
functions such as "ATITruform", "Full screen antialiasing (FSAA)" or deactivated "VSYNC"
can lead to display errors.

The game runs very slowly.
You can change the game settings and set the display values to their minimum.
