According to KONAMI's blog

http://www.pesfan.com/news/8431532/Gamescom-and-Beyond.../

a demo (I mean the real one Very Happy) will be available soon. It doesn't say anything about the release date though.

A little later that I expected (FIFA 10 demo has been released today for NG consoles and -maybe atm- PC) but at least it will come with all the updated improvements. Wink

I've just tried it and Shocked. I can't believe how could be possible to publish such a horrible game in 2009. Seriously, it's worse than a joke.

I remember when NBA Live was announced to be withdrawn from the PC market, allowing 2K Sports to make its move and give us NBA 2K9, a game which has me in the playoffs after 82 48min matches (mind you, those take about an hour and a quarter to finish). An amazing game. NBA Live was and continues to be crapola compared to 2K9.

Thankfully, as far as football goes, we already have PES, and 2010 could be not improved at all since 2009 and still be great. EA can keep releasing FIFA with this separate crappy PC engine for as many years as it wants. People will get tired sooner or later, and EA will either lose most of its customer base to KONAMI, or will finally decide to give a (if anything, and if only) proper game, by porting the X360 version to the PC, or both, the second one following the first one.

Or, EA could withdraw FIFA from the PC market along with NBA (last year), and nobody would cry over it. Would let those I-only-know-about-FIFA kids get to know PES and never go back.

As far as the FIFA 2010 demo goes, if anything is to be judged by that user's deep analysis and screenshots, it's a don't-even-waste-your-bandwidth case. Seriously. Even if you, like me, are on an unlimited internet plan, with no gigibytes cap.

Hi,

Don't understand how you can come to this conclusion, just installed the demo and edited the cfg_pc_h.ini, changed the RENDER_RATE_MODE to = 1 then enabled depth of field, I have a core 2 duo at 3.8Ghz and 2 8800GTX in SLI @ 1920x1200 and this looks and plays better than the 360 demo for sure. For the 1st time I can say I'm impressed with a fifa demo on PC after years of having tried and compared PC and console versions.

ive tried it and... i thought it would have been worse, a lot.
its full of crap here and there, but its somehow enjoyable... not a miracle but also not a bucket of shit.
players and field dimensions are still wrong, players anatomy is bad, certain animations are simply fool.
but there are also good points like player smoothness when passing from an animation to another, manual passes are very good.
the one i cant stand is the graphic part : lack of polys and good textures, and most of all a serious lighting.
is there a way to improve the lighting from the ini somehow?

Hi Very Happy
I've also modified players lod parameters in order to avoid all the low-poly models but believe me, honestly, what you're saying sounds quite strange to me.
I played the PC demo of FIFA 10 just after I played some matches with my cousin's FIFA 09 (360) and, seriously, it destroys the pc version in every single aspect: graphics, ball's physics, gameplay, realism, animations and even menus are immensely better than PC's ones.
As you surely know, FIFA PC is a "enhanced" PS2 version, powered by the same graphic-physics engine developed in 2003 and used in FIFA 2004. It has been slightly tweaked during these 5-6 years but all game's files are still nearly the same, including IA .ini s, players models, stadiums and a great amount of animations.
This year a new producer (Luke Didd) has been addressed to FIFA 10 PC but EA SPORTS' statement was clear: the game shouldn't has been developed using the NG engine.
So he worked hard for months in order to make a "decent" pc version but, unfortunatly, and it's not his fault, the game is simply bad, IMO. Wink

im not actually used to xbox version, so i cant judge pc version by that.
what i was saying is that the game is not really horrible in all aspects.
there are few (not many) that i would like to see in pes for example.

collisions (air too) are good, run styles are better than pes ones, animations are better in general (few are really awful anyway, like the shot ones).
id really like the manual passes style for pes, and in general more realistic ones (pes's are too precise, i hate that aspect).
but yes, of course the rest is worse than pes. i "feel" less in a soccer game than i do in pes.

I can really assure you it's on another planet, believe me.
I played all the FIFAs since Fifa 97 and all the PESs since PES3 came to PC and the sensation I had with FIFA 09 (console) was the same as the one I had passing from fifa 2003 to PES3. The game finally gave me the impression to basically do "what I really wanted to do", and with all the aids off it was quite hard even to end a 0-0 match.
As for FIFA 10, maybe I was too evil judging it as "horrible", but I honesly espected much, much more from it. You're perfectly right when you say that there are some good aspects which could be implemented in PES too, like manual passes and collisions (yay I must admit, collisions are nice); basically due to the fact that PES 2009, albeit remains the "king" on PC, it's still far away from being the ultimate football game: it's too fast, too arcade, and some of its animations are bad, robotic and unnatural.

100% agree on everything.
im actually afraid pes will be really surrounded by fifa this year, on consoles of course Very Happy

i dont actually like how pes is evolving, especially watching new videos.
always the same animations, same tackles, runnings.
even if i cant go back to pes6-5-4-3, cause 09 is actually better, i feel lack of serious challenge that i had on pes3-4.
game is going too much arcadey, too fast pace to understand what is happening and where u are making mistakes.
dont know if u have seen videos like this .
there are so many things i actually i have enough with:
people running without even getting bothered by the defense line (so stuck and unorganized)
so stupid animations (the henry first goal is a clear example... never seen chipping the ball like that)
even stupider goalkeepers (geez, couldnt he save the first goal? even worse on the last seconds where he got stuck like : "ugh, did someone shot at me?")

im concerned this year pes will be just an updated ripoff of last year's, with just copule cosmetic changes and addons, like the card system.

edit : wouldnt be better for EA as for us to litterally CONVERT the xbox version for the pc?
wed have a stuttering pos but at least itd be the same game...

I completely agree with you. Very Happy
Unfortunately I've seen lots of similar videos to the one you posted and...I know what you're thinking...It's such a shame that the glorious PES saga has become incredibly worse with the arrival of the "nextgen era", losing the old good feeling typical of all the previous "PS2" PES and embracing an undesired fast and arcade side.
And the worst part is that the things you correctly have enough with are those that KONAMI promised to instantly fix, deciding (and lying) to listen at the users' feedback in order to finally bring a great PES. They posted videos about several motion capture sessions, they said the game will have a realistic slow paced speed, they promised to renew the graphics/physics engine one time for all but...the only things they've done are:

- add dynamic shadows to player models and enhance global lighting,
- add 2-3 animations but leaving the most important ones intact,
- mantain the same game speed, tweaking a little the ball's bounce coefficient,
- add the "incredibly innovative" cards system in order to have a more arcade feeling than before,
-stop.
(And, obiouvsly, I haven't said anything about the terrible online part...)

As for the last question, what you're saying is totally correct, but it's clear that EA's perspective isn't our perspective.
The decision of having two separated producers (Rutter=console and Didd=PC) come directy from Peter Moore (head of Ea's sport division and ex Vice-President of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business division....) and the fact of converting a FIFA PC directly from the console versions would pull (according to them) the market towards the less-profitable PC, losing an important part of the console audience.
Though this trend can't be proved, and likely won't be even correct but we can't do anything.

(Just a curiosity, look at this:

Ball's physics is just perfect, all the passing is manual, animations are hugely better than Pes ones and the game have a realistic slow paced rithm...)

yes, the game, despite some flaws, is better than actual pes.
the graphics, imho, is crappy, even on consoles. no attention to details, pitch players and stadium looks with really low polycount. unfortunately there are no graphic effects nor good texture quality to compensate.
about the ball, im not so certain the physics is perfect. sometimes it seems too liteweight and it rebounds too much. anyway as good as pes's.
i still dont understand why after so many years, in pes and fifa, we still dont have different fields/stadiums configuration for length, depth, grass friction and configuration (not as a cosmetic difference, like the green tone).
gee, you got the team copyright payed, use it wisely.
make barça field as an airfield (like it is) and arsenal's like an apartment.
same for grass friction and imperfections.
its not a big deal, cmon u can do it. that would be a nice and serious touch of commitment.
i really hate that pes feel like a billiard field when the ball roll. too smooth.

about the market part... do really EA think someone buys that piece of crap, as pc fifa was in a market audience...for real?
to me the pie chart of fifaconsole vs. fifapc is just like a "wakawaka" pie.
with the waka biting everyday a bit more.

Well different fields/stadiums configurations would be awesome indeed, and I think it isn't a matter of laziness, but a (strange) decision in order to keep gameplay inalterated. But who knows, maybe they haven't thought about it yet Laughing And yeah, the frictionless PES ball is annoying, making the ball literally fly over field in a weird and unrealistic pinball way(and obiouvlsy KONAMI won't "fix", since all the PES2010 videos I've watched mantain the same "problem").

As for EA, it's funny to read such stupid excuses as this years' one:
