A playable demo of Darwinia is now available, offering the opportunity to check out Introversion Software's upcoming retro action/strategy offering. Here's the description of the game from the Darwinia Website: "Combining fast paced action with strategic battle planning, the game features a novel and intuitive control mechanism, a graphical style ripped from 80's retro classics, and a story concerning a tribe of video game sprites trapped in a modern 3d game world." The demo includes a tutorial along with a sample of actual gameplay, and the mere 12 MB download can be found on the Darwinia Downloads Page, and mirrored on 3D Gamers.

Quote: | For those who don't know, we shall start with the big news...Darwinia has now GONE GOLD! Even as we speak thousands of shiny cds are being pressed at a factory and packaged into disturbingly green boxes. Good news we think you'll agree.
We've uploaded six new screenshots that we think show the actual action of the game a bit better than our previous shots, which were very static. Do you have a good screenshot of Darwinia lying around? One with lots of action, explosions, death and destruction? Please post them for us to see, as we've discovered it can be very hard to capture good action because it happens so fast in game.
PC Gamer UK will be running a review of Darwinia (the first, we think) in the next issue, which will be on sale this Friday 18th February. Cross you fingers, hope for the best, wish us look, etc. They will also be running our demo (v1.0) on the coverdisk, as well as including the game manual in pdf format.
We are so close now - Darwinia will be released in less than 3 weeks!
