Haven't had any experience with SATA yet, I have a p4p800 something mobo which has sata support, but didn't do the f6 thing when installing windows xp, does this mean I will have to reformat and reinstall for it to be recognized or can I just graba SATA drivers and not worry about redoing everything? Smile thanks for any help. (Not actually home yet so can't install it and test it myself yet)

You only need to press F6 if you want to install onto the drive and need sata support during the setup. After your installation is done you can then install the drivers and use SATA within windows as you normally would.

Hi!!

Ive also have a question concerning this...

Is it necessary to install the SATA Raid accelerator on my D875 Intel bonanza motherboard if I only have one SATA 150 drive ?

In otherwords, will it work or not ? and how can I get my 100% juice out of this new drive ?

Its a Seagate 400 gig SATA150 with ncq wich is by the way unfortunately only supported on the new chipsets; D915 and D925.

Is there any optimal tweaks I can do on it for it to go as fast as possible ?

Thanks

Hey captnnemo, I have a dif mobo, but when I installed mine (make sure u got the power connector converter or that your drive has the old 4pin thing, mine didnt >:-0) all I had to do was plug in the drive, then when windows started windows installed some kind of thing automatically and had me restart, then I had to download the maxtor maxblast thingy to make format it and make it readable by windows, after that it worked like a charm!

I would imagine you only need the SATA raid driver if you are planning on setting up raid... and maybe if your setting it up as a new master and not a slave, i'd google it...
