|
 |
I'm sick of being in America I can't stand the government or even my fellow Americans. Things only appear like they are going to get worse and not better. I've been thinking about moving to Europe for years now but always decided to wait it out here to see if things get better. I think I have decided if I do make the move I will do so to Denmark but to the many Europeans on this site I want your opinion on Denmark even more so those who live there.
I understand the requirements needed to live there and believe that I can meet all of them. So what do you guys think?

Denmark is a OK place I guess. Nice some places, boring other places.
What made you select Denmark, and not another country?
I hate you.

Well Denmark is boring no doubt about that tho Norway and Sweden is just as boring imo... Anywho the system work- get fired and the system takes care of you and your family, get sick the system takes care of you and your family, wanna get a new education? The system takes care of you. Its a welfare state but it also gonna cost you. In Denmark you pay a huge tax (tho depends on your job, just like in the us) .

at least in sweden you'd get cheap 100mb connection, get to legally bang what's considered "underage" in the US and your children would have the same fine education as any other social class, oh and there are much much less religious retards, except for some somalis but those are easy to ignore
if there was a place I could go live in it'd be sweden tbh lol

Denmark is a nice country, I've worked for Microsoft in Denmark for some time, they have two nice big development departments in Denmark.
Theres also IBM, Google and a few game studies in Denmark to work for, if you're in the IT business.
As others have said, the people are very relaxed and almost everybody speaks english - some are more fluent than others of course.

Wouldn't be my first choice that's for sure. |
It doesnt mean jack shit what you pay in taxes, what is important however, is the money you have available AFTER your taxes AND expenses, are paid. In Denmark its called "rådighedsbeløb" and its the figure you have after the fixed expenses are paid.
Its pretty pointless to directly compare the taxes we have in Denmark, with the once in eg. USA
Remember i dont have to pay for medic care, school, no road pricing (except the Storebælt bridge), kindergarten expenses are low compared to other countries, etc.

I'm in Sweden right now, studying the language at an university (for free of course). So far it's been great, the people and everything. Planning to start a bachelor program in next year and probably settle here afterwards. I imagine Denmark isn't that different from Sweden, so I think you're gonna like.
Oh, one thing that's different is that higher education in Denmark is not free for people outside the EU. But if you are not planning to study that's not an issue.

I have been all over the country lived coast to coast and in between. There is nothing for me here. I'm not looking for action or excitement and making friends is never a problem for me. I'm looking for a better nation to live in. One that will be better for my family.
When looking back I can clearly see that America is on a slope downwards and never for a moment has it really made any improvements. I'm not the type who just abandons the ship when something goes wrong I have tried to help I really did... I was naive to think I could make a difference.

I have a high school education. I guess the job experince I have that would most define me is my years in the Army. But I doubt that will be of much help there.

Small population, low crime, seems to provide a decent education. It honestly even seems to be more free than America.

I don't care how high the taxes are so long as I am able to make a decent living. Besides at least the taxes seem to actually go and help the people here in the U.S. that is certainly not the case.

I have no interest in having sex with children. Nor Could I as its now illegal for a American to have sex with anyone under the age of 18 outside the U.S.

I can understand it not bring free but is it at least affordable? Also what if I become a citizen first? I certainly don't want to have my son struggle to get a higher education just because he wasn't born there. Or does this not apply to children who become citizens? He is only two after all.

IF anyone plans on moving to Norway, stay out of the big cities (especially Oslo and Stavanger).
You might as well move to Somalia or Pakistan then.
I hate you.

Wasn't Norway a shit hole before oil was discovered? I wonder what will happen to Norway once oil resources have depleted.

If you can't find your place in the country with the largest amount of opportunities and diversities in the world, then you won't find it in Europe either.
i suggest trying to solve your social problems within your homeplace, or at least visiting Denmark and seeing what it's like before making a decision.
Edit: Also don't forget about the "losing the deomstication" effect, as an immigrant you would soon find your self in a struggle with all the other immigrants in the country from China, Poland, Croatia etc to find your status there, something that you didn't entirely feel in the US as a citizen.

If you become a citizen of any EU country, it is free. Doesn't matter where you are born.
And I think normally it is about 10000 euro per year, so not very affordable.

Awesome.

I don't know a single state in the world where a man without higher education or luck doesn't need to work his ass of in order to feed his family.

My main problem is the constant degrading of America. I feel like the ship is about to sink and at this point its either grab a life boat or sink with it. For sometime now we have had a rouge government that simply does not listen to the people and I don't just mean the opinions of the people but the needs as well. We have a government that is willing to bailout rich corporations and save the wealthy while providing less and less to those in real need.
I can't stand my fellow Americans anymore either. We are a nation who treats American idol as more important than real issues. We have become a nation of fat lazy idiots. They do nothing but consume everything they can while America crumbles around them.
I realize today that everything I have ever done for my country was in vain the majority of the people do not deserve what they have and they will surely lose it.
I know things won't be easy for me in Denmark and I know I will be the immigrant but I am fine with that. I'm willing to learn and adapt.

Theres actualy many jobs you don't need any education for.
I can earn $120000/year without any education here without working my ass off, while people who spend 6-8 years on some useles school only gets $50000/year, and have to work shitloads.
I hate you.
