Unlike the Japanese version which requires version 5.5 firmware this apparently works on previous CFW! I havent confirmed it yet but thats what is being said!

And you get to play as or against Kratos! Awesome stuff!

Some Maxconsole forum quotes ...

Quote:
="I can confirm the EU version works on 5.50 Gen B, Adv. config. set to:
- plain modules .. enabled
- execute boot.bin in umd/iso .. enabled
until now the game works normally I tried some game modes and the install option that worked fine.
gen b cannot be run on all psp's so be carefull..
edit: i used umd mode M33 driver no UMD.
edit2: JPN version doesn't work with this settings, maybe the game can be rebuild to let it work... Stupid me, the eboot has to be decrypted first"

Quote:
="I have just tried on my PSP Phat and on my PSP Slim and I can confirm that the Europe version work on each of my PSPs

In recovery menu I have enabled "Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO and I have set UMD Mode to Normal: UMD required.

Now I want to try with the JPN version and see what happens.

May the NFOrce be with you always.

Looks nice. I've never played a Soul Caliber game, does it have levels, a story or is it just a mortal kimbat/street fighter style fighter game ?

Soul Calibur RULES, man! Ever since SC1, it's become less like an Arcade battler (SF/MK) and more story/adventure based. There's usually an arcade mode in each game, just for quick battles, but the main crux of each game changes -- either like an RTS mode, or a tower-assault, or even a mini-RPG.

Supposedly, this one doesn't even have Arcade mode- - just pure story and other gimmicks like The Gauntlet.

As for it working? Not on Slims (tried and tested the world over; the game hangs on the battle screen with bouncing numbers) and only on Phats running 5.50 GEN-B firmware.

Sod THAT! GEN-B is fucking shite, I'm not giving up all my homebrew and emulators from M33 (GEN-B doesn't have any 1.50 support, which means 90% of homebrew/emulators won't work) just for Soul Calibur, even if it does look awesome.

I tried that on my Fat PSP 5.00 M33-6 firmware version and the game starts up but when I try to play an actual match, all I see is 4166 bouncing up and down in the bottom right corner and I cannot get into an actual match.

You mean you can load the game and PLAY it? Get passed the VS screen and bouncing numbers?

Proof please. Video evidence, thanks.

I did the ripkit and the ripped.iso is now 366.583.808 bytes, that's a lot smaller !

So, that's it, it should work, huh ?

Yup! Just copy over and play Smile

It's smaller because it basically removes the update and dummy files (over 500MB!!!)

Thanks Konami! Cool Face

LMAO!! Well the game has the 5.00 update on the disk, so I reckon it'll need 5.00 (M33 or OFW, whatever) to work properly Very Happy

You seriously won't regret it, bud. 5.00 M33-6 is the absolute best CFW around. Don't forget the 1.50 Addon, unless you have a slim, and also don't forget "Popsloader 5.00 full"

Very Happy

Uh like I said Ive not updated my PSP firmware for ages so 1.50 Addon and Popsloader mean nothing whatsoever to me.

I dont wanna brick the PSP and I dont have a Pandora battery either!

They're basically addons that allow increased functionality (full POPSloader gives you all PS1 emulator packs up to 5.00, which is awesome as 4.02 and 5.00 are GREAT for ps1 games) and 1.50 addon is, well, essential as it brings back FW1.50 functionality to 5.00 (homebrew and emulators)

wow... tried the fix and it works on my slim with 3.71 m33-4.

simply awesome!

but hm apparently like the above user stated it has the same issue liked a missing intro video and glitched main menu screen with no background(where you choose new game/load game).

anyways a quick question: what's the install option for in options?

same thing as on the ps3 or x360...installs the game on your memory stick do decrease loading times.

the glitched menu screen has probably got somethign to do with the firmware version, seeing as you and headshot have the glitch with 3.x fw, while it works fine on 5.x fw

The install option is only useful when playing the original UMD, hehehe !

Also, everyone should update to 5.00 M33-6 , it's no big deal, just drop 2 files in your psp and run them.
