I have no idea what the patch will contain though as you kinda say I suspect the only new major feature is the newly reworked AI with some smaller fixes and improvements on the side.

It's a god damn joke that they are going to release a expansion pack. I don't see it selling well after their lack of support for ETW.

It figures too just look at what they did with stormrise last i checked the game was in dire need of fixing and what did they do? Turn their backs and came out and said no more patches. Thats pretty fucked up because they did so almost right after the game came out.

I don't know if its CA going down the crapper or if its SEGA pulling the strings but either way no more support from me. I'm not giving them another cent.

I have an actually weird question for you guys.
I've installed the Razor version of the game adding this string to the setup.dat file in order to have the game fully translated in italian:
Code:

%tempdir%\SimPack.exe x -g10508 -kE4AF83A1FF554288E00A6286ADD2993B "%tempdir%\Empire Total War_disk1.sim" "%dest%"

Applied all the required fixes and magically the game works (at least I didn't have any crash after entering the strategic map). Now, since all the released patches won't work with my "modified" release, is the 1.0 version of the game worth playing? Will I manage to play it without HUGE bugs? Yep I know, I said it was weird question Laughing

The Update: Translated for YOU
24 August:

Dear All,

The reaction on the forums to the recent announcement of Napoleon has suggested there is a level of misunderstanding about a few points. I'd like to shed light on a few of these, directly, if I may.

Translation:

CRAP!! You didn't fall for the "I care for you" updates we came out with at this rate well never get you to pay for patches, ok I'm gonna act like I care and make it seem like I'm answering to them...

Why are you releasing another TW game without fixing Empire?

Well cause we wanna make that cash big time, seriously why should we settle for expansion pack money when we can get 10 dollars from full price money.

Ok sure we will release patches that fix things that almost NO ONE is talking about (no maps, no diplomacy, no mp campaign, no unit balance) but most of the game changing patches that YOU want are gonna be in NTW baby, get your wallets out

Why did you lie about releasing an MP campaign? Where is it?

What? you guys are talking about that still? Ok you see the thing is we are working on it... and the patches... and NTW, look we are good at multitasking, just look at the other game we were working on while making ETW, STORMRISE (rated 2.1 on ign) don't worry we know what were doing

Why do you never give dates for anything? I want to know when I can get my hands on these things!

Well duh, so we don't actually have to work hard, crap I'm still counting money, you think we want to be worried!?!? Who do you guys think you are hurrying us, only SEGA does that got that pal!!!

Why are you releasing Napoleon seperately when all it's content should have been in Empire?

Seriously do we have to explain... ok cause its a DIFFERENT GAME, that does everything the ETW does with less bugs and more maps... and possible better MP campaign... and you can't charge full price on expansions

Admit it, you're going to give up on Empire and try to sell us another game aren't you?

Finally you get it... (PR manager gets bat)....

I mean no, we just think this mod need to make some serious money, and not expansion pack money

Look guys we promise are gonna put as much effort in a game that won't make any more money...
as a game that is going to make us potentially serious money

Does the community reaction to CA's announcements make any difference?

Umm has that mattered before?

Look if you guys worship our game, we will let you post, if you say something negative prepare to get deleted and banned

The version with the truth.

because they rate like "oh duh this game is shiny, we better give it a high score or people will complain"

i always said this game will be and is shite (vanilla) because they have NO Ai implented ...

and while testers MAY think thats only 1/20 of the game/rating, for me, imho, in this kinda game, its like half AT LEAST. (Not like in an FPS where a dumb Ai may lower the fun, but still is playable w/o much hassle. ETW is unplayable in its purposed sense. Its simply a lawnmowing of the Ai Troops who wouldnt stand a chance against a bunch of peasants.)

OH JESUS FUCKING CHRIST WHAT THE HELL GOD DAMN IT!

They're excuse is the same thing as L4D 2 as well!

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck!

Go remake Rome or something, not another game which can easily reuse resources from Empire.

I want to make it clear that ETW is not a bad game. The problems are with bugs, lack of support, lack of content that was promised (multiplayer campaign, ladders etc) , historical units that should be in the game being sold separately as addons. Also the lack of MP maps there are very few and many give a huge advantage to one team if they simply camp on a giant hill.

So the problem lies with CA not doing its job and being assholes by selling what already should be there. All the problems above can be resolved and fixed and it would make the game great but CA is simply unwilling.

Also it is true that they do in fact ban whomever speaks criticism of them even if its purely constructive whenever they are about to release a new game or expansion pack on their forums.

CA won't see a cent of my money again until they fucking FIX the bugfest that is ETW and deliver on the multiplayer campaign mode that was promised multiple times. Fuck their DLC and fuck them.

If I start playing online again I better not have to deal with these new factions when I don't have them. The game still suffers from balance issues I can only imagine how much worse these new factions will effect it.
