I beat a small mech, and I need missiles to blow away some rubble so I can continue.

Edit: Nevermind, there was a ladder I didn't see at first.

Ok, so there is barely no music at all. And tons of ventilation shafts. And no real veriety in enemies.

In other words it does not come up to the standards of metroidvania games.

This is my fave genre, so will still buy this.

and where does metal slug fit into that metroidvania?

I think you are trapped in a poor mindset when it comes to this game...

"No real variety in enemies." Not every game needs 20 different enemies, the game scales EXTREMELY well as you progress with just enough variation where the game still makes sense.

Why does it need to slap in extra enemy types JUST BECAUSE when the enemies that are there fit the game, and the settings, and the challenge, JUST FINE already? This game does not need new enemy types just so they can add an extra bullet to their feature list.

Other games need various enemy types, this game does not, even though it does have varying enemies as you progress...

I don't mean to attack your statement, I only want to assure you that this feeling you're having will not be a problem. This game is truly amazing, I haven't lost so much time in one sitting on a game in such a long time, I forgot what it felt like.

If you love this style of game, you will love this game, period. When you think you've seen it all, just keep playing. It changes up just enough quite a bit, you'll see.

You will NOT get bored. Just get in there. Smile

Apparently there is a way to contiue playing the game after the demo officially ends

I just saw this on some forum, apparently when you killed the mech, you quickly go inside the menu, load last checkpoint, and you can continue playing the game. You can not save though, so you will have to play through the whole thing in one sitting. I haven't tried it personally, but lots of people confirmed this to work.

edit: found youtube vid:

This game is phenomenal. Honestly, it seems less like an XBLA game and more like something that is a full-on retail release. I can't get enough of it.

all you really need is the scuba mask....
the sprint grear
the jet pack (x2)
and the super gun Very Happy

would be nice to start the game all over with all the gadgets Very Happy

I beat the game but I missed the helmet and a lot of items. I think the helmet is useful if you're playing on insane because the enemies are pretty easy to kill on other difficulties.

If you hate it, ignore it.

Just beat the game. Didn't bother with the helmet. The ending and last boss was pretty weak imo.

Overall great game though.

i looked into the ign walkthrough, that's exactly the way you're supposed to go, no other options left (well, except starting a new game). at least it's right before the end, not somewhere in the middle

I was just looking at the IGN walkthough, you need to "triangle jump" like in Ninja Gaiden in the elevator shaft till youre on top.

About time, died like 20 times there Evil or Very Mad

So I'm thinking about buying this later today, everyone seems to like it and the reviews are good.

In terms of length though, how long did it take you guys to beat, and is there any replay value? challenges?

Approximatly 8 hours it took me to finish the game. Mostly because i took my time. And as for the replay part i started the campaign 3 times. Now i am trying to finish it on Insane difficulty.
