I doubt they get paid or anything but the developers certain expects a good score (8 / 80 or above even if I were to guess.) if they'll let you do a exclusive reviews or previews of the game earlier than it's intended release, Kane & Lynch is a decent example as well, didn't Eidos try to stop reviews of the game (Before it was actually out that is.) were it had scored a 7 or lower?

Ads and such can also be seen as something similar I guess doubt a company would like you to advertise a title and then totally bash it in a review or even preview of it.

Better to compare a bunch of different reviews with general (Hopefully unbiased.) user opinions and such. Smile

Just took a look in "Super Play". Swedens probably biggest magazine for video games. Did not buy a copy of it but took a quick look at the review of Batman:AA.

9 out of 10.

Hopefully someone here has bought a copy and are able to scan it.

demo was fantastic imo lol its one of the most well crafted games ive seen in the last year or two to be quite honest, i've always felt that most games as of late have been no effort low budget money grabbing games (ie nfs, the godfather 2 etc) but this seems extremely well crafted, I hope this company sticks around and makes more games in future.

good point. I (and most here i guess) finished SP part just fine, i don't see a reason to patch this game anyway. Haven't encountered any issues during the ...3 hrs ? of gameplay ...

A what?

This is a general PhysX driver update adding support for the new version 2.8.3 (Sorta, can't find the folder amongst the other PhysX drivers, was it merged with 2.8.1?) with a few performance improvements in Batman Arkham Asylum as a bonus and a similar bonus for Terminator Salvation (Whoever is developing that update after GRIN went under.)

Batman uses version 2.8.1 (Needs at least the previous version 9 PhysX drivers due to using techniques like APEX which supposedly improves interactions with various stuff like particles and environmental destruction, don't know much about it though.)

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding anything. Smile
(Come to think of it though, burned the disc? game isn't leaked yet is it? should come out next month //EDIT: For consoles at least// unless you burned the demo to a disc or something like that.)

I probably should have put it in a better way or what to call it and also made it easier to understand what I meant, sorry about that.

But yes the "A What?" part refers to surprise about the PhysX update being seen as a general patch whereas it's more of a driver update to the "core" PhysX architecture (Mainly CUDA driven though the AGEIA PPU works somewhat to offload a NVIDIA card if altered a bit via the NVIDIA control panel.)

Also a bit surprised about what he meant with burning a disc unless he burnt down the demo on a DVD or similar since the game isn't really out yet. (Sometime next month followed by early or mid October for the PC edition.)

Hope this explains it a bit better.

EDIT: (From a post in the console section.) Or atleast I didn't expect it to be out before September.

(Perhaps it was late August for console and mid September for PC?)

Damnit to hell, I'm finding myself ever more drawn to getting the PS3 version! Sad

Excuse my blasphemy in this hallowed place, but with this drought in games three weeks is going to be a hell of a long time. It wouldn't be so bad had not every single game I was looking forward to been delayed to Sept. (Batman, Red Faction: Guerrilla, Resident Evil 5).

Must resist urge......

Slightly off-topic but LIVE has been updated again, might be useful to have once the full version arrives as it'll utilize this system.

(Might need to click two times on the "released" button to see the newest files.)

It's the same file that gets downloaded so as you say it doesn't matter how it's updated. Smile
(Wish there was a basic changelog or something atleast though from what I know 3.0 allows for some changes via marketplace and certain settings, incorporates some anti-piracy measures - unsure what that actuall is - and fixes a few other things.)

(For the previous 3.0 update and not this new version released yesterday.)
