Ok so there still seems to be a few problems.

After unpack Dialog.dv2 (Easiest is to drop it ontop of the dv2_u.exe file.) you should get two folders.

Put these two folders (Win32 and sound) in the \Data\ directory in the game folder.
(Say yes when it asks about Win32 already existing, nothing will be overwritten.)

Go to the \Data\Sound\Soundbanks\Win32\ folder and rename the folder called "German" to "English(US)" a mistake in my previous description was to say to rename it only to "English" and this won't work.

Now go into the folder "\Data\Win32\Characters\Dialogs" and drop the unpacked (From the archive I uploaded.) *English.dialog files here. (I'm testing a think with this at the moment, someone said there is a bug with lip sync data which I'm currently checking.)

In the registry (Start - Run - Regedit) go to this location. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Larian Studios\Divinity2]
(The WoW6432Node is only for 64-bit OS's, ignore it if you don't have such a OS.)

Change the language tag to "English" (I'm examining "English(US) here, both seems to work, need to find the one that is "best")

Don't move or alter any files, unsure if you need the dialog.dv2 file as it was unpacked but it doesn't affect anything.

Starting a new game should show English text and when creating a character you should hear German audio in the language preview (When going from Soldier to Knight and so on.)

Game needs to be able to read those .dialog and .bnk files that were extracted or it won't play properly, hope this helps, currently checking more stuff and fine tuning as mentioned above but it should be fully playable now with English localization.

English, French, Italian and Spanish also work, (EXE supports more languages but the files for them aren't present.) for French I got a confimration that "French(France)" might be the proper folder name. (Similar to "English(US)" )

EDIT: Found a problem with the "\Data\Win32\Characters\Dialogs" despite all renaming and whatnot the game won't read the unpacked files in this folder (Tested by renaming to English(US).dialog and then when that proved to not worked renaming \Dialogs\ to \DialogsX\) the issue isn't as major as I first thought but it won't play the proper lip synchronization, however this is minor but I'll see what I can do, might not be much unfortunately as I can't affect the game EXE.

EDIT: Details on the next patch.
http://www.larian.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=370414#Post370414
(Been trying to alter some visual aspects but the file format is somewhat difficult and as been said not everything can be made to load outside those archives.)

Man I can't get that damn program to create a virtual CD. Nothing happens.

Probably has to do with Windows 7.

I managed to get it to work without burning or making a virtual cd under Windows 7 (32bit).

Just use latest Daemon Tools lite and Yasu. I also closed Yasu after cloaking my mounted DVDs and turned on RPMS emulation in Deamon Tools.

Worked like a charm.

I don't own a gamepad but there are files present that indicate that such a setup might work, will look into it but it looks like everything will work as intended when plugged in.
(Might need to adjust the control options.)

I tried to use a download manager (Firefox portable, downthemall) but it didn't get the proper URL, filename was "items_Divinity_II_Special_item_1_DE.rar" however so there might be others, haven't tested the file yet but it should add all three items to your character's inventory after installation if I understood it correctly.

EDIT: Extracted with universal extractor, it adds a xml file in the data folder called "Content_Unlocker.xml" with a key, I'll find the rest of them eventually as they must be in the game somewhere for the code to "unlock" the items. Smile

EDIT: Found them, there's a lot of them so it'll take a while, for now use a hex editor and input the "5da51dab-3cff-4962-9717-d3af82fbc905" value (Without " " marks) as a text search and copy paste.

EDIT: http://www.sendspace.com/file/dcxlj1

Should give all ten "sets", place in the \Data\ folder.

EDIT: More testing needed, only gave the first item set.

EDIT: Might be that they all add the same items, atleast from what I've tried.
(Tested a few different codes with no results aside from the first three items added.)

EDIT: They give different items but not all codes do something.

EDIT: They all give different items but they only work once, when you've taken a item set (Saved game with it.) other codes won't work.

That's a good idea, so far I have a Content_Unlocker.xml file with one key in it and a Content_Unlocker_.xml with all of them, currently I've found this from testing key by key.
(Will be edited as I keep testing them.)

(The key at the top is the one that gets loaded by the game by the way.)

Haha thanks and yeah I don't get any items with the last three, might be for the proper English or another localized version (Different EXE) as the name of the current download is "items_Divinity_II_Special_item_1_DE.rar" but I won't be able to test this until it's released, or perhaps they're just placeholders?
(Was ment to be used but was never implemented or will be used later on, hard to say.)

EDIT: Seems those all add the first version of the "Blood Echelon" set after testing a bit more.

EDIT: Screens, first set shows what must have been one of the longest prayers ever in a video game and the last one gives interesting advice on how to combat trolls.

(EDIT: Really dragged it out towards the end with that "Aaaaameeen", can't really be described but feel free to enter the chapel in Broken Valley and listen for yourself, heh.)

(A thing I noticed after reading a few books is that you can drag the pages around by moving to the edges of them and clicking the mouse button cursor over them when they fold.)

(EDIT: Kinda like the porn pop-up in the corner there, game is actually using flash for most of it's menus, seen when extracting the menu .dv2 files.)

EDIT: Seems my attempt to hide the UI failed.

Should be the latest version of it, as above though it seems the game doesn't read the modified dialog files but all that's missing is the lip sync data, still fiddling a bit with it but it's very minor though there should be some way to resolve it as well. Smile

Sorry if I didn't explain it well enough. Smile

Unpacking the Dialog.dv2 file provides the needed "scripts" (Animations and lip sync data for example.) and sound files, though those are packed into those .bnk files (Soundbank?)

Renaming the \German\ folder into \English(US)\ allows the English translation to find and use those files (Albeit unfortuantely the .dialog files for localized data aren't loaded but it seems to be for lip-sync only.)

Currently there's only a German release and it was more or less just luck that the files for other (mainly European) language files were present but the main audio files aren't available in their localized formats. (That DV2 file would be much bigger if they were, and this unpack method wouldn't be needed then.)

So at the moment only German audio and English text is possible, it's sort of a temporary solution until the real English (And other localized versions of course.) release which might come in late September sometime. Smile

No don't do anything to those files, they're required.

The German language localization reads files from the following directory and filename.

Soundbank (Some compressed archive with sound file data, wave - wav format it seems):
\Data\Sound\Soundbanks\Win32\German
(Files themselves keep their actual names.)

.Dialog (Scripts kind of.)
\Divinity2\Data\Win32\Characters\Dialogs
(One main script file and a smaller localized file.)

The localied .dialog file is for proper lip-sync animation with the audio files.
(It proved to be rather minor, still trying to figure out a way for the game to load them as not all files are read when unpacked from those .dv2 containers, seems to be hard-coded in the EXE code.)

For any localization the above changes so for English it's not \German but \English(US) and from what a user said for French it's \French(France)\ (Kinda interesting that it's not \German(Deutsch) then for the German localization.)

So for the audio files to properly load the folder must be named accordingly to the localization used. Smile

(To a lesser degree this also affects the small localized lip-sync script dialog files but I'm not 100% certain as they won't load but it's either FilenameEnglish.dialog or FilenameEnglish(US).dialog)

EDIT: Extracted sound bank files from the dialog.dv2 file, some people reported problems with the unpacker so I uploaded this, bit large but no extraction should be needed.
(Just place in the game folder's \data\ directory.)

This release does not contain any english soundfiles, only english text is possible as its found in the german release so whats possible is English text with German Audio.

Ah no wonder its playing in German lol I got confused when he was going on about 'lip syncing', I thought it must be English otherwise why bother with lip syncing!

Cool and a HUGE thanks to JBeckman!

OK well after playing this for a good 4-5 hours now I've decided that it's a day 0 purchase as soon as it's released on UK soil. As a freelance game artist myself I can appreciate just what a labour of love this game was. Every single nook and cranny has some secret hidden within it and I'm seriously thinking twice about some of the decisions I'm making. The last game that had me this enthralled was Demon's Souls.
