New RTS set in SW universe coming.

Let's hope it's better than the last two (especially Force Commander). Wink

First details:
Quote:
This new PC game is set two years before ANH with a certain amount of cross over from Episode 3. Screen shots look superb. It appears to include ground battles set in dessert and greenland areas with attacking AT-AT's and a new Imperial ground based vehicle called "TIE Crawlers" which I've not seen before (cross between a tank and a TIE Fighter). The action also takes place in space with rebel fleets taking on Star Destroyers (think of the game Homeworld). Unsure when the game will be released as it is in the early phases of development.

Apparently there is an article about it in British PC Zone Magazine (February, 2004 Issue 151)

Played the demo for that, was pretty cool.

Liked the system of placing your squad members.

The running and gunning felt kinda' generic and ordinary though, hope they spice it up for release.

Fighting against ground vehicles sounds nice. I've looked a lot on the Republic commando movies too and it looks great.

Hope this isn't true, it says in the link that it's coming from the makers of C&C?. I read from a C&C community site that they were supposed to be making the next Red Alert or Tib Game now they finished with LoTR.

Would much rather see the next Red Alert then another StarWars game.

I don't know if it's going to be crap (hope not), but it's certainly not going to be EA.
Lucas Arts holds the license for SW-games, and they not selling it. They are publishing all SW games themselves.

I'm guessing the Command & Conquer people are following this game because there are a lot of old Westwood people working on it.

Haha, yah I'm with you man, I noticed that too. They are trying to innovate a new unit in there, it does look pretty dumb. The Tie-tank, I mean come on, those things are known for their sorry ass weak armor, no shields, etc, they are like complete opposites a Tie Fighter and a tank.

Oh well. Razz

thanx for the info, didnt know that. It seems its origin is a SW roleplaying game, so i dont know why they put it into that rts game as i think it looks like ass... ...the rendering at the star wars site also looks better then the one in the game as it doesnt have the stupid pseudo-wing thingy on top of the tracks...
EDIT: And it doesnt fit the time-line its supposed to be in from the database....
