Well I had a look at the packed data and as far as I could tell it utilizes the basic compression algorithm thats part of the Dx sdk.
So should be a simple matter to extract it really, but I've just had too much fun playing the game to bother

If the release date really is September, then 2 months isn't that far away. All this "english text - german voice-overs" stuff is a bit of a compromise.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - ASUS P5Q-PRO - Mushkin XP2-6400 4GB - Gainward HD4850 Golden Sample - WD 3200AAKS (managed to fry this one, ffs) + WD 6400AAKS - Thermaltake 550W PSU - Thermaltake Soprano VX case

No only english text is possible, no voice overs at all, but everything is texted anyway.
It also looks like the data might be encrypted, either that or I'm mistaken in thinking it's using the algorithm I think it's using, as all I'm getting is garbage atm.
Yeah it's definitely not LZMA compressed.

Well, the English voice overs might be cringe worthy, so I think this should be fine.

No I wouldn't call it ok at this point, we need to figure out the structure of the packed dv2 files, the game wants some specific language files at certain points in the beginning, at the tutorial village and at the first village you arrive at.
After the third movie it crashes if the "Dialogs.dv2" file isn't present and it does so even if it is present but theres not the files there with the names it wants.
We can change that if we can figure out how to extract the dv2 files
Right now it's JB's turn to shine

I'm trying to figure out a way to more or less rip out the data as there's no tools for this file format at the moment and it's unknown what it actually uses (Assuming it's compressed somehow.).
Might not work that well though, at the worst only a few of the files will be accessible.
(When the game becomes more available I guess more people will look into it, especially if it's found to be modifiable without too much effort.)

Yeah a solution will be found, else it will be impossible to mod it, unless the devs release a toolkit, which is unlikely.

Hey ,
i have a question regarding the digital download version of the game:
If i buy it at www.gamesplanet.com, will i receive a cd-key that will work on the retail version too or can i just burn or whatever the download from gamesplanet.com for later use?
And does anyone know if the file structure is the same as in the retail version? Because there are some releases from direct2drive i think, where you need to wait for special patches etc.

You'll get a CD-key but it's not used by the actual game as the digital download edition uses SecuROM online verification which is where the key is used whereas the retail copy only has a disc check, you can burn and backup the files however you want, actually that's recommended since it's Metaboli and you only get five or so downloads from them (Or atleast that's what they say, I can still download ArmA 1 from their servers so it might be a bit wonky.), unsure about activation attempts but the default is three activations active at one time with the possibility to contact them to get more, file structure is identical as such aside from the EXE file and thus the current 1.01 update won't work with it, a version that does work with the online version will be out early this week based on posts on the official Divinity 2 forums. (Tested a bit myself when I played around with some files Epsilon kindly provided and for some reason the retail EXE's - There's two in the patch, one for developers or something like that and the real retail EXE - doesn't correspond to the digital download EXE, normally you simply add paul.dll or whatever name that component might have to enable, or if you remove it, disable the online activation procedure but in this case using the retail EXE(s) with the download edition will break it.)
Still trying some stuff with the file archive, at the moment you don't want to use the English translation "hack" or what to call it as it keeps referring to voice files that don't exist (\German\ instead of \English\ in that 700MB audio archive from what I saw via a simple hex editor.) however I wonder if opening the "MainDataStreaming.dv2" file would prove easier as that's where the XML files that govern all this is located. (Translation and a ton of other stuff, seems easy to modify as well once cracked open and accessed.)
Oh and don't switch between languages, there's a protection on the savegame that invalidates them if you use a different language.
Other stuff I've seen and noticed while playing around is that the max level is 60 and it takes a few million XP to get there (Enemies don't really give much XP and it governs your actual level as well, you'll instantly advance once you hit the required value.) and your level governs what equipment you'll have access to from what I saw in one of the game stores after using the program TSearch to alter the level address.
Not much else to say at the moment I guess, I'll keep trying to get those files out of the .dv2 archives but we'll see how well that goes.
(Might have to put a request up at Xentax or something, seems those guys mod quite a few formats, the RE5 benchmark demo for example and the early SF4 mods with altering files.)

I did, it rips some of the audio files and also gets some pieces of other files but it doesn't get much more than that.
Considering the tools and utilities for Spellforce, Gothic and Anno amongst other German titles or rather their mod communities I don't think the file format will last that long once people start looking into it.
The solution once unpacked is either to open the problematic XML files and alter the location they refer to or to do things a bit simpler but requring more space to unpack the voice files and rename the /German/ folder they appear to be located in to /English/
Both should work and make the game fully playable for those of us who are a bit unskilled at the German language (There's also French and Italian from what I can see by the way.) albeit using two localizations (German Speech and English text for example.) albeit in some titles this is kinda a improvement (Voice acting in Sacred 2.) but it should be enough until the english release in September.
(Thought it was August 28th but it might have been inaccurate, kinda close to September though, haha.)

If you can handle a bit of waiting it's "just" SecuROM and just a disc check, sooner or later some German person or perhaps even group will upload the disc and then another group or similar will manage to crack it.
(Updated version of YASU or DTE would help, seems Alcohol can also manage pretty well albiet ACID is more or less YASU but tweaked for Alcohol instead of Daemon Tools.)
EDIT: Though buying the game will support the developers.
(Albeit this isn't exactly a forum where such things are discussed a lot, I don't mind either way, there's multiple reasons for pirating and buying after all, or how to best describe it, hahaha.)

In the nfo it says the image has to be burned in order to play. Doesn't work mounted until a new yasu comes out.
Thats too bad, since i don't have a dvd drive. Got rid of it long ago because i find disc drives very annoying.
