Don't know if this has been posted....but I was doing a little research trying to find out what the hell the game was about, and now I'm hyped as hell lmao.
Anyway, taken from the Gamestar Review of the game
Quote: | Graphics 7/10
+ lots of details
+ lots of variety
- "strange" animations
- muddy textures
- game and cutscene transitions could have been handled better
Sound 9/10
+ very good to fantastic voice actors (german version here of course)
+ lots of variety and fitting music
- environmental stereosounds are weak
Balance 7/10
+ game can be beat with every skillset
+ well done and logical puzzle sections
- only 1 relatively easy difficulty setting
- boss fights too easy (except for final boss)
Atmosphere (8/10)
+ nice mix of traditional fantasy setting and humour/irony
+ fun to explore the world
+ spot on humor
- change of character too quick (not even sure what they mean in german)
- some weak plotlines
Controls/Handling (8/10)
+ good mouse/keyboard handling
+ assignable hotkeys
+ able to teleport
- unclear/confusing inventory
- weak map
Game length (10/10)
+ huge amount of quests, most of which are optional
+ huge and varied world
+ upgradeable player fortress
Quests (10/10)
+ nice story
+ good/evil paths
+ interesting characters
+ surprise twists
Character/Skill system (9/10)
+ you're free to choose what skills you want
+ opportunities to experiment
+ lots of useful skills
+ dragon has own skills
Combat system (6/10)
+ exciting
- no active blocking
- close combat hard to avoid
- dragon flight is limited
Items (10/10)
+ huge amount of items, weapons, and potions
+ powerful set-items
+ you feel your character improving

- "strange" animations
Yes this is typical for that engine.
- environmental stereosounds are weak
Could be fixed with that mod from Oblvion 'en sounds' or something, well a lot of stuff could be fixed if it's modable like Oblivion.

This one got me right here. Not to say I want to change the difficulty, but I don't have a choice at all?

Just because they too use GameBryo doesn't mean that Divinity 2 will be even close to as moddable as Oblivion was. Larian hasn't given any indication they'll release a modding toolkit, and without one you can mostly expect some minor stuff.

this game should be played on hard anyway probably.

I am super jealous about that, but sept is around the corner, so I have a few things to look forward too. Also, I wonder if it has english subs, because I could honestly care less about the voice acting, although it makes you feel like you are a part of the game. Dammit, come on sept!

Wish someone made a translation patch for the text, I'd definitely buy it as well. International release date isn't that far off, but there's loads of good titles coming in the fall, whereas summer so far has been typically dry.

Nothing new in the video, except for some info about combat while in dragon mode. Apparently, the developers emasculated the dragon mode by making it impossible to attack ground enemies with your fire, forcing you to turn back into human mode. Also they created several areas that are protected by a magical force field that's only deadly when you're in dragon mode.

One question to those of you who have read the german reviews or played - can you jump in this game? I know, it sounds like a riddicculous question, but jumping in tpp roleplay games is quite an important feature for me. I hate it when you cannot cross a short wall or an inch-tall-obstacle just because there is no jumping allowed, cause it totally fucks the gameplay for me. I prefer Gothic 1-2 style in terms of movement.

Yup that's one of the reasons all Bioware games sucks, cant jump/climb or swim.
I'm glad you can jump in this game, very important for me as well. So, does anyone know if you can swim and dive too?

I've seen swimming in this, so I'd imagine that theres some water exploration.
The level design and placement of dungeons is also very creative so I'd be surprised if there wasn't some underwater exploration involved.

I had to activate mine through securom activation, but this was a downloaded copy.

I guess thats only for the download version then.
The boxed version doesn't require any serial or activation according to the official forums.

I definitely recommend the game, it's a shame theres no multiplayer though.
I think it would be awesome in co-op as it basically functions as an mmo as it is, same control scheme as a generic fantasy mmo, customizeability of your character - you can even change your looks on an already made character, even change it's sex
Currently I'm leveling a "mage" but you can really make the char as you want mix and match the skills as you like
I think that this and Risen will be my favorite rpg's this year, this is definitely a lot of fun to play.
The only thing I don't like is the inability to customize the view range, but I'll try and look through the files and see if something can be done manually, as right now the view range is set to console defaults and I have a far more powerful machine than a 360.
That said, the game isn't trying to be something it's not, this is definitely not The Witcher quality, as the game just isn't that deep gameplay wise, it's an action rpg and thats all there is to it, no hardcore roleplaying here.
But it's fun leveling and doing various quests and see what kind of loot you can get, to that effect it's much like playing Sacred 2, but with a flight model added on and a world you can roam and explore almost freely - when you get past the first hour of tutorial missions.
Theres definitely better rpg's out there and this isn't something that will go down in the history books, but it's a fun game and you quickly loose track of time playing it.
The world doesn't feel as alive as the one in for instance Gothic 2 or 3, it's far more superficial and nothing happens in the world unless you interact with it and thus make things happen.
It's a game I'll play and I'll have fun with it for some 30 hours but then I probably won't play it again unless they patch some of the glaring issues like the viewrange and lackluster feedback on some spells, or the "no flight" zones.
The data is also packed so it looks like modding it will be hard until you figure out how to extract the data, I haven't looked that much at it to know if modding will be possible or not.
