so i made this topic here in technical as i find it more appropriate.

as you know im always behind gaming, so i thought now is a good time for some f3...

anyway, id be appreciated if some old fish would teach me some step-by-step maneauvers as how to install it. reading the thread in general many people seem to be having troubles with it (so this thread would be great to them, too).

so RLD version is good? i read it installs prepatched exe though, but someone in general thread gave a link for original exe.

now what? should i install some patch or DLC? does the latest 1.6 patch contain previous patches fixes or do you have to install them all? and once again: before or after DLCs (perhaps these DLCs install patches?)?

its quite a messy thing with this Fallout 3 i must say.

so thanks for explaining

For the later DLC's it's recommended to have the latest patch installed albeit the only required update is 1.5 due to adding some functions tha "Broken Steel" depends on albeit it's a bit buggy so i'd recommend installing the latest 1.6 update (Patches are cumulative) and after that install the DLC's you want (They won't overwrite one another or something like that so it doesn't matter in which order you apply them.)

If you use LIVE they'll automatically install themselves but it's recommended to move the DLC files to the game's data directory (The location of Fallout3.esm and it's BSA files) the video files from Broken Steel go to the video folder however and not just into the data directory.

After that launch the launcher program or use a mod manager to "tick" each of the DLC ESM files and activate them, if using the Fallout launcher they'll untick after clicking on data files again so a mod manager is recommended. (Such as the Fallout Mod Manager program by timeslip.) Smile

so by cumulative you mean 1.6 contains previous patches fixes? i may not be that good in linguistics:p

and this manual esm file moving only applies if you use LIVE?

oh, and when i install that patch do i require some fix? i read with 1.6 you dont need anything.

1. Install game.
2. Patch game to latest version.
3. Put the DLC files in the Data folder.
4. Open the Fallout 3 Launcher.
5. Click Data files.
6. Check the DLC files.
7. Play.

Fallout3.exe isn't protected but the launcher program has a disc check on it using SecuROM so you'll need the original version of the launcher or it won't be updated, doesn't really make a difference with the actual game though.

The launcher is an exe file. Can't remember the full name of it, but it has Launcher in it.

i installed the game, replaced exe with the one in clonedvd rls, installed patch 1.6 and after that it gave me error. then i placed DLCs and tried to launch FalloutLauncher.exe (admin). still gives me this?

does 1.5 crackfix work for it?

Either get a crack or mini-image. Make sure the crack is for the version of the game you have.
