Today I encountered this message when trying to download Australia DVD
Quote:
This Report has been identified as possibly identifying copyrighted content by the MPA.

As a law-abiding company it is Newzbin Ltd's legal and responsible duty to suspend the NZB for this Report until it has been confirmed by the MPA whether the content on Usenet is actually copyrighted content.

If confirmation is not received within 2 months then this Report's NZB will be reinstated.

We recommend you use our raw Usenet listings to seek alternative NZBs while their investigation is carried out.

First time ever i've seen this. Was the same on all Australia dvds that had been uploaded up to 35 days ago.
Anyone else experienced this??

Aren't they in a "battle" with the MPA?

You may have noticed that recently we suspended a number of existing reports. This was done after receiving notification from the MPA that those reports were potentially of their copyrighted works. This suspension will remain until the reports are verified not to be infringing.

Despite this, in the last week, we received notice that the MPA have filed for an injunction against us. We are thus now going through the motions of filling out paperwork etc and will see what happens next. There's not much else to tell you at this stage; we'll keep you posted.

It wont be long before they start wanting to monitor what is being held on retention... its just time before they get theyre hands stuck into the usenet side of things.

It might actually be easier for them to deal with fucking people over with usenet than torrent... Hmm, you know how they are, anything to make back some cash they feel is deemed stolen..

Now we could get back into the discussion that people who pirate stuff would surely buy it and therefore it's a loss for the industry. Yada yada, bullshit, we all know that Very Happy
Most people buy stuff they feel is worht buying.
I admit I "pirated" the last Billy Talent album but only because I was to lazy to rip it from my own cd. Take that anti-piracy assholes Laughing

I've been wondering about usenet for a while actually, always felt a bit strange that they didn't already try to fuck those users up the ass O.o

Torrents are a lot more accessible and (I'm guessing) popular. They're also not SSL encrypted like usenet.
